Did he pay her with public funds, or out of his own pocket?

If its out of his own pocket, and everything is consensual, then honestly, he can have sex with a troop of cross-dressing midget cheerleaders if he wants? It's his life, his time, his money and no one elses business .

[edited to add] Although I wouldn't recommend it. Worst £80 I ever spent tbh :(

so what? if he wants to pay for it, its a free market

Isn't it illegal to pay for a hooker though?

They met on a dating site, no money changed hands, she was going to get her money from selling a story as she obviously realised who he was and that he was newsworthy

If he didnt know she was a prostitute he has done nothing wrong. I think labour are sailing pretty close to the wind if they believe every labour MP is without blemish

Doesn't bother me but he is media and culture secretary and therefore has connections to the press.

Everyone can act foolishly at times I guess but I do think Ministers in govt need to act with some respectability.

I am sure if this was even just a Labour,Lib Dem or even UKIP councillor/MP the press would be splashing this all over their front pages tearing that individual to pieces almost, with the Conservative party particularly likely leading the whole trumpet section on the issue too.

In all fairness, it would have been the same if the roles were reversed, a Labour Minister in a Labour govt would be facing the same treatment by a Conservative opposition.

I don't see why he should quit. Even if he did know she was a prostitute and he was paying for it, it's not illegal so why should he lose his job?

Of course. The right will take any opportunity to dish the left and the left will do the same to the right.

Liberal means freedom, just remember that before continually dissing it in every single thread.

Anyway if this guy does get forced to step down because of this then shouldn't David Cameron step down for oink! oink!? And besides the decision would be about as un-Liberal as you could get as they're saying that he can't enjoy kinky sex whilst everybody else can.

This guy is Human too so he will have fetishes like everybody does even if they don't admit it to anyone.

Prostitutes can have relationships with men outside of their 'work'. He's a single man who had a short relationship with a woman whose job he was unaware of, I'm not sure what relevance it has on his ability to do his job.
