CELEBRITY Big Bruv winner Shilpa Shetty yesterday admitted the bullying she suffered on the show WAS racist.

She confessed to The Sun: “It did hurt — I’m only human.” But the Bollywood beauty thanked the British people for their overwhelming support during her ordeal.

Shilpa, 31, suffered jibes from Jade Goody, Danielle Lloyd and Jo O’Meara that sparked worldwide outrage.

She said yesterday: “I saw the footage for the first time and it looked pretty ghastly.”

After the Oxo cube row Shilpa had insisted that the bullying was racist. She told The Sun: “I know at that point of time I perceived it as racist — and I’m not trying to make any statements to retract from what I said.”

However, she insisted Jade was “not a bad person.” She claimed her comments “stemmed out of her insecurities”. And she praised Britain as a tolerant nation.

When told the race row sparked 46,000 complaints, Shilpa said: “I just take it as a huge compliment.

“I would like to thank the people of Britain for supporting me, for knowing what side to be on and sticking by me.”

And she told fellow Asians: “Just be proud for who you are, what you are. You don’t have to be a celebrity to stand up for your rights, to carry yourself with dignity.”

Shilpa added: “Jade didn’t intentionally mean to be racist. Women are like that when they get together!”

After hearing of Jade’s “Shilpa Poppadum” comment, Shilpa shrugged: “She didn’t remember my last name, I don’t know Jade’s last name . . . oh Goody!”

When told Jade only made up after being warned by BB chiefs, Shilpa said: “At least she made an effort. The day we hugged it was all gone.”

She stressed: “Big Brother was just a game — it’s over, let’s move on.”

true. the thing is, she had her arguements with jade & thought there was nothing else in it, but while her back was turned, that was when the real stuff came out! far to jade though, she said to shilpa what she thought of her to her face, unlike jo, jack & danielle! & then saw the error in her ways (thanks to BB). shilpa must have been shocked at the things she heard them lot said.

After seeing all the footages of what those 3 girls said about Shilpa, she is still being nice about them and is still dishing out forgivness for them and asking that the public do so too.

Shilpa Shetty said her tormentors were petty and juvenile

Celebrity Big Brother winner Shilpa Shetty said the alleged racist bullying in the house was not a battle of race, but between "right and wrong".

She told the Daily Mirror she had no idea the bullying was so bad until she watched the complete footage of her ordeal.

And she said bullies Jade Goody and Jo O'Meara must seek "professional help" to overcome their problems.

She told the newspaper: "I'd no idea it was so bad. They are so mean. Why didn't someone stop them? It hurts me deeply. Look at me ... I am shaking.

"This is so petty, so juvenile, so nasty. There is hatred there and that hurts deeply. Only now, this is sinking in. I am someone who has never been judgmental, but Jade's behaviour is obnoxious, very aggressive, nasty and suffocating."

She asked: "Why are they laughing? Why did no one step in to help? What had I done that was so wrong? Can you believe this is the epitome of womanhood? I can't believe women will act like that. It's totally alien to me."

Talking about the divides between the housemates, Shilpa added: "It was not a battle between brown and white. It was a battle between right and wrong. And right won.

"Jade and Jo need professional help, not condemnation. I am someone who believes in karma ... what you have sowed will be repaid.

"Danielle I'm still ok with. What she did was horrible and upsetting, but she's very young and stupid.

"It was so apparent who started the rift ... Jade. I don't think she did it consciously but it was to make sure she didn't get nominated by the girls."

I don't like her saying Jermaine was the first person to put the race issue into her head. Is that true? I thought early on in the house she was already thinking it when she asked "is it because I am indian?" and Jermaine said no. lol. My take is that later with cleo sitting with them, he simply confirmed it.

I as an audience member who saw all that Shilpa had to endure felt sick, I can't imagine how it must be for her to see the 2 faced ways of those girls. But I genuinely believe she wants to forget this episode and move on.

well I didn't sit down with the dates jotted in my mind, but he did first mention it to her. Theres nothing wrong with that though, he thought it, so told her, she slept on it, agreed with it, then slept on it more and decided it wasn't so.

Shilpa changed her mind after Cleo talked her out of her thoughts about it being racist. I feel Cleo was almost the fourth in the group almost allowing and nearly encouraging their behaviour at times.

Loads of people said that BB`s question to Shilpa about racism was not fair as she had not been present when many things were said.I think that the police will take a dim view of this, and BB will come in for some serious stick.
The problem was that once the news had taken hold ,and ratings were on the verge of enormity they decided to let it go unchecked for atleast one and probably two days more than they should have, purely for the ratings and the big night.:nono::nono:
