Sick and tired of books and their ways :notimpressed:

Dedications: to their bloody wives, kids, loved ones: sorry not interested so dont put it in the book. Tell them yourselves
Stupid quotes or poems at the beginning: No just get on with the book and stop being poncy.
Acknowledgements: No, not interested in who has helped you, send them an email but dont clog up the start of the book with your fake gratitude.
Preface: oh ffs just get on with it, if you have to wtite 4 pages of this bollocks your book isnt to the point enough.
Introduction: just get on with it, bloody hell fire
Just have a title page with the date and all the other copyright crap and publisher detail at the very back and start the bloody book on page one.
No wonder books are dying on their arse. What things about books annoys you?

No, they need to change and adapt or they will die. I bin hundreds of books a month, most books are worthless trash. Iv handled thousands over the years and most are a waste of trees.

Adapt in what way?

bin the crap at the front and get on with it. Have a proper summary on the back of what is inside. stop with the "its the best thing since sliced bread - daily star. crap reviews that noone believes . Stop with the silly hardback nonsense where it comes out at 15.99, noone pays that and it ends up in bargain books for 99p. No book should cost more that £2.
scrap all coffee table books and dust jackets

Aww c'mon you cant honestly expect authors to work so hard for sometimes years at a time on a book then sell it for 2 quid, take away the agents fees and other things and they will be making about 30p a book :fist:
I have paid 18.99 for hardbacks from my favourite authors but that's just my choice, I prefer getting the hardback because the paperbacks don't tend to be released up until another year from the hardback date, but then those are just my personal preferences.

thats just it, £18.99 for something that costs 50p to make and not releasing a paperback immediately. Its backward. Why not just kindle it to save space?

I don't like kindles or any e-readers again just my personal preference, I love the feel of books especially old ones.
It doesn't cost 50p to make a book :fist:

Nothing really annoys me. But if I get a new book I don't like opening it fully to read it because it will wrinkle the spine. :worry:
But I get what you mean about the reviews, it seems like every book is the "#1 best seller" etc.
However physical books are making a comeback and sales have risen for the first time in years, whilst Kindles and e-books have fallen in sales:

yes fuelled by the growth in stupid crap like adult colouring books that get gifted, regifted and then never used. Or cookery books that again never get opened
