Does anybody not think that if we don't have enough housing for these people or even our own people then we should maybe slow down immigration until we do?
If they are illegals then they need deporting.

Typical of the daily mail to concentrate on these pests being immigrants. Truth is, most of them are English but because the Daily Mail are concentrating on alarming headlines about immigrants, they’ve made this a story about them.

I don't know where you live but you can find your own proof. Try driving round the north circular at 23:00 and stop and take a look at the make-shift tents and fires burning in old oil drums. Listen to the accents, you will hear mainly English ones. Damn, you don’t even need to come to London. What about the Arc in Manchester (a load of Brits living in tents and makeshift homes)

Just because newspapers seldom report it, doesn’t mean its not happening.

no link then? but you expect me to believe that you either stopped on the north circular and could hear English accents over the sound of the traffic or you drove into the site in the dark for a chat:hehe:

'Manchester City Council said it was working with the people living there, mainly Britons and a handful of immigrants'.

I'm very pro-active when it comes to the homeless. I'm not just coming up with this to pacify a doubter; I've stated umpteen times on here about the voluntary work I do. I know for a fact that there are camps lived in by British people along the north circular because I've visited them.

As a regular commuter to London I can assure everyone that there are plenty of foreign people crashing for the night and/or setting up shanty towns. Just because it's in the Daily Mail it shouldn't be discounted... Just like I don't necessarily believe that everything in The Guardian is puerile, leftist tripe. There has been a MASSIVE influx of Romanian criminals who are living rough and who are dominating the pick-pocketing scene in West London. Ask anyone.... Ask the British Transport Police...

Vote out.

The other angle on this is that if there are British people in these camps, its because they have ended up there due to some misfortune. Immigrants coming in to the country should by default prove that they have accommodation and the means to support themselves. Not arrive here expecting to be looked after.

One of the problems is, Romanian gypsies (often hard workers) know we pay a lot more than what they earn in Romania. What they don't consider is the cost of living in the UK, especially in and around London. Its all subjective because whilst they may only earn a pittance in Romania, it only costs a pittance to live. Another thing is, there are lots of very poor homeless Romanians and the social system, though getting better, don't support them. You are better off being homeless in Britain than you are being homeless in Romania, especially if you have children.

I too have DIRECT personal experence whilst travelling that immigrants ARE chiefly responsible for the 'Shanty Town' camps in question.

As to the Daily Mail? I find it amusing how this newspaper is universally condemned as being 'tripe' by the very same peope in the country who then quote from it or use links to articles in it to support their viewpoint.

Talking of the DM - here's an article on these camps which clearly states that migrants are the main occupants:

Shanty towns in suburbia: Migrants working for just £40 a day found living in squalid conditions in makeshift camps around London

Dozens sleep rough in car parks and under bridges all around the M25

More than 150 wait near Wickes in Edmonton illegal construction work

Camp nearby bulldozed a year ago but moved under flyover 100m away

Include Albanians, Bulgarians and Romanians, who leave piles of litter

A window licker!

Never heard that statement before, what's it mean bobnot? It's a well known term. It's trying to infer that 'right wing' people who have worries about immigration are mentally handicapped.

It's a rehashed article from last year tweaked to concentrate on the latest folk devils 'immigrunts'.

It's the kind of insult anyone not on the left has to suck up in SD lately.

Freedom of movement within the EU is all fine and good as an ideal. Unfortunately, there are too many individuals out there ready and able to take advantage of it when they just shouldn't be here.

Anyone that thinks we don't have an immigration problem is kidding themselves. Its blatantly obvious we have a problem and its manifesting itself in numerous ways across the UK. Should this be enough of a reason to leave the EU? I don't think so personally. I think our government should be lobbying for some common sense within the EU ... but thats just my opinion.

Supposition, it wasn't referring to anyone here so no idea where the post has gone or why it's still a topic for analysis.

well how many brits at the age of 16-21 are stuck doing 8 hours a day for just 40 pound a week, yes a week, not 40 pounds everyday, and are forced to do it, and the eu's socialist no borders, have caused this big pile up, and the big danger is that, these people have just walked into the country, and we don't know how dangerous they are, this country has not learned its lesson, when back in the 80s when a few cities went into riot mode, when everything went t'ts up, and if these guys don't get what they want, what will happen,

Yes I did thanks, the inference that it was directed at members however has seen it removed, not saying you are responsible for that of course.

I reported it. I very rarely hit the report button but I did in this case. And I'm shocked the mods let the post stand as long as it did.

You do not know whether or not it was aimed at anyone on here - although I feel strongly that it was - and the fact I reported it and it was removed is not really your business.
