I reckon racism is a natural thing, and we should just learn to have positive racial views instead of negative racial views.

If anybody can become non-racist, more power to them.

I hate prejudice in general. I don't think people should be judged or ridiculed on the basis of their skin colour, religion, sexuality etc.

I teach my children to be tolerant of other cultures etc. We live in a multi-cultural society and I think that parents have a responsibility to teach their children about racism.

Education is the key.

That kind of sums it up really!

I think that if everyone were more culturally aware then we cuold indeed have more positive racial views, but who has the task of ensuring that everyone is more aware!

Rasism is just ignorant gelous people, who take it out on the persons ethnic background, origin, skin colour, religion etc. Racism is wrong and i think it is dcreasing slightly but it needs to fully stop.

Everyone should be given the same rights and an even chance.
And no one should judge people on their skin colour or ethnicity, everyone is people and all people should be treated the same. (bad english lol)

I see a racist as someone who cannot see beyond the persons skin colour, and has the belief that their race is superior to anothers.

I think racism will always exist. It is still a major factor in today's society.

Is racism an unhealthy extension of tribalism?

It is a belief that that your race is superior (see National Socialist Party of the early 20th Germany)

The question is what we think of racists - answer not much

Some white supremicist even debated that the other races were fully human - news flash all the races can breed with people of other races so biologically we are all one species.

Race relations have got better but there will always be racism, it's just that some people are more open about it.

Patriotism is some thing that most people would claim to have, but loving your own can quickly turn to hating everybody else. Personally, I cringe when I see people draping themselves in flags and pinning up flags in their houses. I don't see the need for it.

Racist people are just frustrated people. When a racist is satisfied with life he/she is likely to be less racist. vice versa...

There always will be racism and wherever you go or whatever you do, it is impossible to get away from that.

You have to also be very careful with what you say.

Many words can be construed as being racist, when they are not.

You can say something accidently and it wasn't meant, but it just took place.

There are racist words said in soap operas, but we just accept it, as it is just portraying them as someone who just said a word on a particular occasion.

Nothing serious, you understand!

Back to the topic. People should make the effort to be less offensive. Of course there are racist words said accidentally and people should make the effort not to say them. End of story.

The sad thing is most people dont realise they are racist until someone points it out to them. Jo, Jade and Danielle are obvious as evidence.
Alot of people go around saying they dont like racists but are racist themselves....using words they shouldnt be. That is what makes my blood boil the most...and the worst is when people say
"My friend is black so I cant be racist"

That's so true. Some people do not think they are racist when they actually are. They actually believe that certain things are acceptable, when they are not. But then again, you can get really racist people who just deny they are, knowing full well that ain't the truth.........

It's such a shame though you have to put up with it. You shouldn't have to.

Yeah but it goes the same for everyone. Some Black people dont like white people just like some white people dont like blacks. Its a vicious circle and always the people uneducated that rise to it. Sad really.

Admin deleted... personal insult deleted. Warning next time.

Edit: I have changed this to a warning. The presence of this user is causing to much trouble on the forum for now.

Let's let it cool off for 24 hours.

And the "white trash" scenario has been discussed on this forum in length.

for the sake of clarification, the 'white trash' comment was made by Leo, and simply repeated by Jermaine.

Racism is based on ignorance and small mindedness for the most part. I hate it when people say things like "he's black...but he's ever so nice."

Back on Topic :elephant:

Racism is often thought of as something only whit people are capable of (well that is how it is implied) when I disagree. I think everyone is capable of racism, it is whether it has malicious intent behind it which is when it becomes a major issue.

In a perfect world we would all wake up tomorrow and everything would be lovely, there would be no racism, fighting, famine or poverty. Sadly this isnt going to happen and all we can do is try our hardest to treat people with the respect we would like to be treated.

Of course. Anyone can be racist, no matter of creed or colour. And it does have malicious intent behind it. It is based on hate.

Thats so true Grit - if there is malicious intent then they are just pure evil. I have to be honest I generally dont think about the colour of someones skin, I acutally think I dont even really take that much notice of it. People are people to me and like I said before if you show people respect you cant go far wrong

Wow, seems like Jade Goodys' apprentice has taken a shine to the TIBB forum.

Racism is one such thing that won't go away, well not anytime soon. I'm not for it and I don't like to see others subjected to it either
