"Cliff Richard gets let off"?????????
The charges against SIR Cliff Richard were DROPPED and the case DISCONTINUED because of INSUFFICIENT EVIDENCE which would JUSTIFY proceeding.
In plain words - CLIFF HAS NO CASE TO ANSWER.
I'm awaiting your dissertations on;
'Custer and the 7th Calvary's decimation of the Indians at The Little Big Horn'
'The Socialist Principles of Margaret Thatcher'
'How I won the War' by Adolf Hitler.
'The Many Hospitality Awards of Fred and Rosie West'

I am glad for him,I am fed up of these cases and I still feel there may be people actually serving sentences for things that were seen as nothing at the time, even by those alleging the incidents.
Any real sexual abuse of children or adults of course should be dealt with and the people prosecuted.
The way this case was handled against Cliff Richard has in my view been appalling and is also likely gross incompetence.

My thoughts too Joey.
I agree when he said he felt that even before he was interviewed ,he was hung out like 'live' bait.
There has to be a better way of dealing with these claims and then also making sure to avoid any likely false accusers adding to the list.

With respect if there is no sufficient evidence to even charge him or even more to the point continue any investigation either, then there is absolutely no reason at all for him to suffer what you propose.
He hasn't been let off, there is nothing for him to answer to in the first place.
Maybe there should be for some that have accused him possibly falsely however.

Is this just opinion based upon personal prejudice? Or have you the benefit of direct personal knowledge?
If the latter, then perhaps you should have contacted the police or Crown Prosecution Service.

Sir Cliff Richard
‘After almost two years under police investigation I learnt today that they have finally closed their enquiries.
‘I have always maintained my innocence, co-operated fully with the investigation, and cannot understand why it has taken so long to get to this point. Nevertheless, I am obviously thrilled that the vile accusations and the resulting investigation have finally been brought to a close.
‘Ever since the highly-publicised and BBC-filmed raid on my home I have chosen not to speak publicly. Even though I was under pressure to "speak out", other than to state my innocence, which was easy for me to do as I have never molested anyone in my life, I chose to remain silent.
‘This was despite the widely-shared sense of injustice resulting from the high-profile fumbling of my case from day one. Other than in exceptional cases, people who are facing allegations should never be named publicly until charged.
‘I was named before I was even interviewed and for me that was like being hung out like 'live bait'. It is obvious that such strategies simply increase the risk of attracting spurious claims which not only tie up police resources and waste public funds, but they forever tarnish the reputations of innocent people.
‘There have been numerous occasions in recent years where this has occurred, and I feel very strongly that no innocent person should be treated in this way.
‘I know the truth and in some peoples' eyes the CPS' announcement today doesn't go far enough because it doesn't expressly state that I am innocent; which of course I am. There lies the problem.
‘My reputation will not be fully vindicated because the CPS' policy is to only say something general about there being "insufficient" evidence.
‘How can there be evidence for something that never took place? This is also a reason why people should never be named publicly until they have been charged unless there are exceptional circumstances.
‘To my fans and members of the public, to the press and media, all of whom continued to show me such encouraging and wonderful support, I would like to say "thank you" it would have been so much harder without you.’

CONGRATULATIONS Sir Cliff, just because you've stayed a BATCHELOR BOY doesn't make you 'iffy' - as this decision shows - so perhaps THE NEXT TIME - the police won't be so hasty to publicise unsubstantiated allegations.
SOME PEOPLE have said DON'T TALK TO HIM, but they are in a minority, and I say that this result gives POWER TO ALL OUR FRIENDS who knew you were innocent.
I bet you've been DREAMIN' of this day CONSTANTLY, but what a THEME FOR A DREAM uh?
ALL I ASK OF YOU now Cliff, is treat yourself - accept ALL MY LOVE and take a SUMMER HOLIDAY and relax. It doesn't matter about formal planning, you'll enjoy the break just as much if you're TRAVELLIN' LIGHT.
You can be sure that THE MINUTE YOU'RE GONE all your fans will be wishing you well.

That's Rubbish....Rolph Harris and Jimmy Saville had connections with the Royal family for decades ....if the police say Cliff is innocent then he is innocent....I never thought he was anything else....shameful that it's taken the police over 2 years to get their arse into gear....if he was protected they wouldn't have put him thru Hell for so long...
People who make false allegations shud be exposed once their crime has been proven...and they should be prosecuted...

Oh the Jill Dando thing is an insane mess. She was known to be preparing to expose a vast amount of historic child abuse within the BBC / amoungst entertainers, that is a fact, and then she was "murdered by an obsessive fan". What seems to have gone mostly under the radar, for some bizarre reason, is that that said fan was aquitted, had his conviction overturned in 2008, and also received damages payouts from several of the tabloids. Jill Dando's murder is currently unsolved, and not being investigated. She was shot in the head with the gun pressed into her skull. She was executed because she knew too much about a person or various people, basically, people with enough influence to have her killed and get away with it.

That's one of the most suspicious things about the case IMO - her murder "by a fan" was HUGE news at the time... It was absolutely everywhere from what I remember. But the subsequent acquittal and dropping of all charges against the accused, while it was reported, was covered so quietly that most people if asked what they know about Jill Dando would still say that she was "killed by an obsessive fan".
The reopened investigation concluded confidently that she had been executed by an experienced professional killer, based on the kill method and efficiency, and a few other things but the trail by that point would have been totally cold - if a professional would even have left one to begin with... So her murder is basically unsolved.
Its pretty clear though that someone with connections and influence wanted her gone for something she knew, and based on what she was working on its very likely that was someone involved with the BBC. I think it's likely that she knew about a lot of the Saville et al. stuff, years before it all started coming out anyway, but who knows what else she knew. No one ever will, I guess . Someone made sure of that.

To leave no stone unturned I guess, it would be rather bad if a taskforce created to uncover abuse that was allowed to happen due to a lack of care by the BBC and the authorities in the 70's didn't take much care in their own investigations.
We also know little of their methods so it's tricky to gauge guilt by simply looking at how long an investigation lasts.

What has Cliff Richard to do with the BBC? I don't believe that lack of adequate investigation in this area is confined to the 70's either.
The more people who come forward over time I would have thought makes it easier to gauge guilt not less, as every case has to be assessed on it's own merit. It can't be assured that Cliffs file will remain closed, should someone else come forward it will be reopened.

I find it infuriating that people can accuse someone of something falsely and still be able to hide behind not being able to be named.

All I said that It's tricky to gauge guilt simply by how long the case lasted because we don't know the facts of the investigation. I don't know why you're taking exception to that and stating the obvious.

There is a strong theory that it was Serbians because of her Kosovo appeal. There were death threat letters saying 'From Serbia'.Some other presenters got them also.
Some people think it could've been because of Crimewatch.Maybe a criminal she had locked up ordered the hit.We might never know.

cant wait for him to sue the 9 liars
Yeah, let's go down the route of having it be possible to charge or sue anyone who makes an assault claim against someone when it isn't upheld.
... I hope the reasons for this not being a good thing are pretty obvious.
Seriously, no matter what anyone personally chooses to believe, let's remember that this file has been closed specifically because it has not / can not be proven, and NOT because it has been proven to be false.

If it can be proven that they were lying, sure, but being unable to find enough evidence to convict someone of what an accuser is claiming is not the same as proving that the accuser's claims are false.
