The American series starring/written by Lena Dunham... Anybody a fan of this show or has watched it? What did you think?

I've heard good reviews and need a new series to get into so thinking of giving it a watch but looking to see people's opinions on it?

I watched the first series and thought it was pretty good but I lost interest quickly after that.

Yeah it's enjoyable. The episodes are only 30 minutes long so it's quite easy to binge watch.

I've only got three episodes or so to catch up with now (I'm sure I made a thread for this though :worry:)

Season 4 was really bad... 5's been more enjoyable but I am still leaning more towards the "these characters are all awful people" side than the actually-finding-them-funny side. Still great for its soundtracks, themes and openness though I guess.

I still watched this last season... but I don't know why....

I loved the first 3 series... loved them... but now I am with shaun. The characters are just to unlikable now... they seem like they will never stop being vapid and selfish... and Lena Dunham thinks she is pushing the boundaries with her scripts still... but I think she is just trying to hard

I think the main problem is it's been surpassed by a far funnier show set around 2 girls with very liberal ideals and representation (Broad City of course).

So is it basically like a more believable S&TC with a younger, more "relatable" cast? The first series is only a fiver or so for DVD on Amazon so I'm tempted..

I wouldn't really compare it to S&TC, but then I didn't watch much of that - it seemed a lot more light-hearted than Girls, think Girls can have a tendency to be a bit full-on with the drama and depression.
