View Full Version : Who should lead our Great Nation out of the EU & become the next PM of Great Britain?

Wizard.
25-06-2016, 11:33 AM
I personally believe that Andrea Leadsom has shown great leading skills and her inclusion of the EU debates are very notable. Also with her experience in finance she would be great for handling the EU negotiations that will be in the interests of the country's economy - either that or she should take over from the idiot George Osbourne as Chancellor of the Exchequer. We basically need someone who advocated for Brexit as that is what's going to happen and people like Nicky Morgan or Theresa May will try to do what's in their own interests (Remainers) especially Theresa who's instinct cannot be trusted "my instinct tells me that Remain will win the EU". Historically the front runner doesn't usually win, which would be Boris Johnson, who I don't particularly want as PM.

Theresa May not sure who out the rest would be the worst but I quake at the thought of Boris being out leader.

It would have to be an active brexit supporter, so that narrows the list down. It will either be Boris, or someone that comes from the background, previously not in the frame. As the vote goes to members in the end, I can't see it being anyone other than Boris and as he was a key figure in Brexit, I think he would be a good choice. We need to ensure those that supported exit are held accountable for their actions, and having him as leader is the best way to achieve that.

None of those, if he was a candidate I would trust Matt Hancock more.

However,I think a new leader should be elected and then that leader should bring back the fixed term parliament act, have a vote to repeal it,then hold a general election for the electorate to again now decide, who and what make up of govt, majority or a coalition, should negotiate the exit from the EU.

A lot was said rightly on here about Gordon Brown being unelected when taking over from Tony Blair and sitting in the role as PM.
This would be no different and it would be dubious at best and wrong in my view, to have any PM leading such a major issue as negotiating the UK out of the EU, who had not even secured his or her own mandate first to do so via a general election.

Anybody except Theresa May. She is the type of women who you would have to polish the cutlery before she would eat her dinner. An utter snob and as politically correct as you could ever get. She would close down every sex shop in the UK if she could have her way lol.

I feel that it will be Boris who wins (regardless of who I prefer) and I do kinda like him. He was great on that show, "Have I Got News For You" lol  and he has great charisma and quite down to earth and a friendly guy.

I also doubt that they would want a female prime minister after the Margaret Thatcher years.

What you mean is, they'll sacrifice a pawn before having a "real name" take over (likely as soon as an upturn is predicted, so they can take credit for it). I have to admit, my opinion of ol' Dave is slightly improved by his flounce, because their ideal world would be him staying in while it all goes to **** and then the likes of Boris stepping in to "rebuild" (i.e. do nothing while the markets bounce back all on their own).

[edit]

This is by the way backed up by the betting on the leadership, which has carefully worded their odds as being for the next permanent Tory leader, suggesting that they expect there to be a sacrificial interim leader.

Absolutely right Livia, I do apologise for my unusual generalisation there.

Although qualifying it a little by adding.
It is 'only' the Conservative govt and party that is likely, and it was in their manifesto, to be bringing a bill to parliament to bring that hunting back.

Anyway on topic again,I think Priti Patel would be a surprising but possibly very forward looking choice.

Theres a lot of people feeling and looking very smug at the moment. Being the person associated with the 'Brexit recession' - I hope they keep that name - could be political suicide. Wouldn't be surprised if Boris runs a mile away from the leadership. Too hot for anyone as high profile as him right now.

I don't have any DISlike for them, though I appreciate the risk of over-population if they were left entirely alone. I also don't see any need for it to be turned into a sport...

I just struggle to muster the energy to REALLY care when there are so many other things going on. Even in the world of wildlife, things that are actual problems with much wider consequences, like Bees. I tend to think that foxes get more attention because they seem close to dogs, and we humans love our doggies.

I do like them, I know they can be a pest however.
As it happens I was getting at Kate Hoey not the Conservative party but ti si the only party that advocates this hunting return..

However that is no excuse to chase them as they are by the privileged pompous creeps on horseback with a pack of hounds that then chase and exhaust the fox and tear it to pieces alive.

It may be whoever is elected the new leader will not pursue that now anyway, with so much more to deal with such as years of the EU exit.
I still think whoever gets the leadership should hold a general election before any negotiations start.

I still think it would have been David Cameron who could have got the better deal for the UK but I can well understand how devastated he must feel at this time after so much genuine effort he put into this referendum..

I would truly hate to see backstabber Boris now not only take his place but then get credit for anything, which in my view he would not warrant in the slightest.

Possibly of the names on the poll, I could settle for Stephen Crabb but he has no real chance.
