Channel 4 is insisting it will not hand over unedited Celebrity Big Brother tapes to the police without a court order.

Police have requested tapes as part of their investigation into the show's race row surrounding Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty.

But a Channel 4 spokeswoman said: "Channel 4's policy, consistent with that of all broadcasters, is to require the police to obtain a court order before such material is handed over."

Hertfordshire police have not yet made plans to seek a court order and are still in the process of interviewing housemates.

Channel 4 has denied there are two unseen racist clips from the reality show in which Shilpa, crowned this year's winner, is called a "****".

Its strange, if it really was the word '*******', it would make perfect sense to show the unbleeped footage somewhere.

I suppose we'll never know now, given the amount of time theyve had to erase the evidence.

That's true. If they just showed it, it would end all this speculation, if it was just the c word. It obviously wasn't.

Also, in the unlikely event that it is the word '*******', then the fact that they have dragged it out without admitting either way, is clearly just tactics to prolongue the publicity and the hype.

Exploiting this whole situation in that way is a different crime altogether, but one equally disrespectful to the victims and the public.

It is the Principle,
giving Police TV Tapes
is more wasted Public Money.

We pay for the Police.
It is over,
Time to move on.
