Anyone else watched this on Netflix? It's soo good, so authentic it's amazing to watch. There are no fights, one kiss at most in a season, just genuine human beings living in a house. Subtitles too so anyone can watch it. Everyone is so polite and kind it's fascinating and Mizuki is bae

What is exactly its format? Do they all stay the whole length of the series? No voting/winner?

It's basically three guys and three girls who live there for a couple months. But they have contact with the outside world and go to work and everything but you get to watch their daily interactions, super interesting and SUCH a different take on reality tv, it was really fascinating for me.

There is no public vote or competition, it really simply is a social experiment.

In the first 10 mins, I like everyone so far! It's crazy too see the different culture and how they point out questions like 'I can see your pit sweat' to someone they've just met rather than over here it would be ignored for politeness or only pointed out by close friends

T*
29-06-2016, 12:52 AM
It's so refreshing to see it all more centred towards the social experiment- I love the fact there's no music or anything, just simple editing and soft graphics- it's like watching BB1 again. Sort of.

T*
29-06-2016, 12:58 AM
Well, there's occasional music but it's BACKGROUND. Emphasis on background, BBUK- not distracting, not DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN

I wouldn't even compare it to TRW if I'm honest

It's so natural if I'm honest. It feels real. I like it.

And I have such a crush on Mizuki :blush2:

I'll try and watch it after I'm done with HIMYM9. Watching BB alone with working 8 to 5 is demanding enough, so maybe I'll leave it to weekends :)

I might watch an episode of this soon. On paper it doesn't seem too appealing (no fights D:), but I do like the 'social experiment' part that has been mentioned on here.

Conflict is what makes BB interesting for me. I rarely get bored of it :p

This will be cool to watch though. The Japanese culture interests me, so I appreciate why there wouldn't be any fighting.

Due to it being a Japanese show you can't find it anywhere on the torrent sites and there's no fan dubs either- we literally have to wait for Netflix to do it

You can have a chat with netflix on their site, so if you want you can find out with them and if not they can request it for you :p

It looks like the second part will be released on October 15.

I'll wait a few more weeks and then I'll sign up to Netflix and watch it all during the first free month, I guess.
It's surprising that it's nowhere else on the internet

Oh, that was a real thing? I thought it was invented for that film with Buffy.

I definitely think Raph should do this, on the current season (Aloha State) there's many Half american/Half Japanese cast members as it's in Hawaii for this season, he'd be great!

I've started watching this on Netflix. Only on episode 1 of the first 'part', but I'm really liking it so far. It's such an endearing show, and it's nice to gain insight into a culture that interests me quite a bit. It's light-relief television and the authenticity and politeness of the cast members is nice to watch.

The only thing that confuses me is that the analysts (shall I call them that?) seem to be watching the show in hindsight? Is that correct? Like, they make references to past and future seasons, so I'm confused as to when they're watching? Especially since I'm watching the first 'part' on Netflix???

Okay, I've just realized there are three different variations of the show currently on Netflix and I'm watching the most recent one. Makes sense now.

Yeah so before Netflix their was also one season (8 parts) that was just on Japanese Tv and also a movie length one as well.

If you do watch more then just the new one Opening New Doors, I suggest you skip Aloha state and watch Boys and Girls in the city.

Thanks for the recommendation. Will definitely watch Boys and Girls next, even though it's gonna be difficult to get through this season as it is. There are so many parts and episodes, it's a tad overwhelming, lmao.

As for the cast I've watched so far:

Shion (such a likable reality tv personality. He's so endearing and laid-back.)
Seina (only been two episodes but I totally get why they keep bringing her back.)
Mizuki (headstrong and loved her unnecessary takedown of Yuudai. She went at the right time, though.)
Tsubasa (really sweet and like her relationship with Shion.)
Shohei (not much to go on but he seems like a cool guy. Enjoy his singing and think he's genuinely talented.)
Yuudai (feel like I should hate Yuudai, but he was a good villain and brought entertainment-value. Did get tired of his shtick sometimes, though.)
Takayuki (another cool person, but has gotten really boring and not so useful on the show anymore.)
Ami (wanted to like Ami but she;s just really dour and unlikable. She does have fun snipes at people, but is then annoyingly coy most of the time.)
