Series 2 is brilliant Princess:thumbs: I watched it on Living tv, but I tempted to get the DVDs.
I really think Denny is gorgeous! He kind of reminds me of Chris Noth, who is one of my long standing crushes ever since he was on Law and Order.

Do you prefer Chris Noth as Logan in L&O to Mr Big in S&TC?
I like him in both, but I prefer him in L & O. I love the show, but I don't think it was ever as good once he left. Benjamin Bratt was nowhere near as good.

True dat. He was a little prettier and appealed to the Latino community so it was a 'politically' correct move. As for when he got his girlfriend Julia Roberts on the show? Please. Although that was a very good episode and nice to see Julia play a manipulative bitch.
L&O is a great show and the spin offs are equally good. I can't decide which I prefer Criminal Intent or Special Victims Unit both are good but they're completely different in style. I think I probably prefer Criminal Intent; it’s less sensational. If you know what I mean.
Yeah, I think I like CI better than SVU too, although all three shows are excellent. I like Vincent D'Onofrio in CI - and Logan actually comes back into CI as a regular cast member in season 5, which I'm looking forward to. I also love Homicide: Life On The Street - a lot of the same people involved in that show are now in The Wire, and Homicide also did a few crossovers with L&O too.
GiRTh
01-03-2007, 01:54 PM
Aye I agree. I heard Noth was coming back; I think it's due to D'Onofrio's illness. Annabella Sciorra will be in it too. CI's great but it could definitely do with a bit of eye candy for the guys.
Many behind the scenes staff are involved in both Homicide and the Wire. Many people in Baltimore consider the Wire to be the spiritual follow up to Homicide and the whole Homicide set up was based on one of David Simon's novels.
For me, the Wire is the best show currently on. The writing great, the acting's good and the characters are deep and believable, but the real star of the who is the extremely intricate plots. All three seasons needs to be viewed at least twice for the audience to appreciate every little detail. Brilliant stuff
I've got both of David Simon's books 'Homicide: A Year On The Killing Streets' and 'The Corner'. They're both excellent:thumbs:
GiRTh
02-03-2007, 01:42 PM
David Simon is some writer. I'd like to see the adaptation of the Corner but it's not available on DVD.
Remember CI is on tonight and L&O on tomorrow.

I watched it on Living tv, but series 2 finished a while ago now.
If I remember properly, he had a twin growing inside him, which would have been there since he was born. Bit of a coincidence that it all kicked off when his wife was pregnant though!
As I say, it was a while ago that I saw it - someone else might be able to give more details.

I've watched four episodes now. It's good but I'm not jumping out of my seat at the prospect of next weeks episode. For me, the main problem is the fact that you can tell it's an American network show ie ABC, CBS or NBC. I tend to prefer the shows that come from HBO, Showtime and FX they all seen to be edgier. The network shows, to me, seem to be created in a sterile lab where every episode has the right amount of comfort, romance, drama, melodrama and action. I like the show, don't get me wrong, but I'd prefer if it was a bit edgier. I stick by my analogy of E.R. meets Ally McBeal.
HBO does the best stuff - Sex And The City was HBO, and so is Curb Your Enthusiasm, which is one of the funniest things on tv at the moment.

Curb is awesome. HBO are the best network in the world Sopranos, SATC, Deadwood, the Wire, Oz, Entourage all HBO shows. The network executives don't interfere in the progamme making process which makes for more interesting, original and edgier programming.
FX are good too The Shield and Nip/Tuck are both FX shows.

I moderate on a Grey's Anatomy forum Geoff, and we have about 14,000 members and 4 of them are male - 2 of the males are gay and the other 2 are teenagers. So, I think that pretty much sums up the GA audience.

I know I'm not in the demographic for the show and I do like it. I'd just prefer if it wasn't so generic. I loved Ally McBeal by the way and I was a Sex and the City fan but only in the early seasons. So I do like some shows that are aimed at women.

Do you mean Alex and Izzie? I kind of got the impression that he really cared about her and got nervous about kissing her, whereas when he has been with other women, he didn't care about them so much, so wasn't nervous about coming on to them.
I know something pretty shocking that's going to happen in season 3, but I can't post it here for fear of ruining it for other viewers.
Regarding the guys, I have to say: McDreamy does nothing for me, neither does McSteamy (in fact, I really don't like him). The hottest guy on the show, by FAR, is Denny - yum, yum.

I'd have to agree with you to a point. The show is predictable and it has all been done before in Scrubs/ER. But I do enjoy it when I watch it. Denny just doesn't float my boat at all.. but he seems to be mighty popular amongst many of the female GA fans.
I agree with you about McSteamy. He's rank. He has a big square face, and there's nothing fanciable about him at all!
Then again, at the beginning, apart from the obvious "McDreamy", everyone was expected to find Alex attractive. Again, not my cup of tea.
I'm trying to remember if McVet (Chris O'Donnell) is in it yet... I don't think he is... but, he's not really all that good looking in character.. he looks far better in other things too.
I would do McDreamy though.. those eyes.. you could get lost in those eyes... plus, he's a doctor... (well, I know he's not really a doctor, but you get my point!).
But, still.. George O'Malley rocks my world... And, alas, he's gay... how sad for me that I can't have him (.. like him being gay is the only reason I can't have him!!!).

Listen to you lot.:blush2:
I've watched six episodes now. It's one extreme to the other.
The first episode last night was the one where Meredith taps off with the guy at the bar who then has a permanent erection. They were all going at it like rabbits. Alex and the nurse, Meredith and the erection guy and Izzy was on heat. That bit where she said to George that she needed hot steamy sex right now was completely unbelievable. None of you can tell me that a woman who looks like her would have any problems getting a date. If she'd said that to me, by the time she'd finished the sentence I'd have bent her over the table.
The second episode was the one where the woman gave birth to sextuplets and only one of them lived. What a grim episode. So much pulling at the heart strings. Even a hard hearted cynical git like me was getting emotional. Not too much though.
I've got to say, I'm not liking the character of Meridith Grey. I already find her irritating. She's way too much like Ally McBeal. Soon she'll be singing karaoke in a bar.
I'm starting to to get into the show but what's the deal with the the Alex character.
lily.
19-03-2007, 01:20 PM
Alex isn't the best character in the show. Even at the stage I'm at. Although he does have his moments.
Now, I'm bearing in mind that you haven't watched it all from the start, but Meredith's character is meant to be annoying. She's damaged goods. Derek basically never mentioned the fact that he was married and then in strolls the beautiful and hugely talented wife (Addison). What a kick in the teeth that was. And, of course Derek decides to make a go of his marriage instead of divorcing Addison and continuing to be with Mer. Also there's the ongoing story of Mer's mother who has Alzheimers and there's the emotional baggage from her childhood.
As for Izzie. I don't think it's so much that she can't get any. I mean, look at her ffs!.. I think it's the long hours the interns work and the lack of social life that's getting to her and that's why she makes statements like that.
In the baby episode, she basically worked 3 days straight. That illustrates how they have no life. So, that explains why she says she needs hot steamy sex right now!
Keep watching though. It is a good show, and I guarantee that the end of Season 2 wont disappoint you.

I've seen eight episode now. I like it but find I frequently roll my eyes. Denny came into it this week and, knowing Linda's taste in men, I can see why she's not keen on him. He instantly hit it off with Izzy who, by the way, is looking more and more gorgeous each episode.
This is definitely not the kind of show that I'd choose to watch but I am very much enjoying it. The characters are good, the actings good - especially Sandra Oh, the plots are a little schmaltzy but I can live with that. Thank you guys for introducing me to this show.

It says in Sky magazine that 3rd series starts on Living TV next month.YAY!
I must admit I'm going off it a bit now, having seen some of season 3...
DON'T read if you don't want to know anything about season 3 - contains one BIG spoiler!
Everybody going off with everybody else. Love triangles all over the place (Addison, Mark and Alex), Meredith being mopey and angsty everywhere, etc, etc. Cristina being unfaithful to Burke, Callie and George getting married, then George sleeping with Izzie... And - how can someone be technically dead for as long as Meredith was and then wake up and be okay? Is it me or is that just very unrealistic?

I watched the bomb episode yesterday. It was a good episode but two things. One, how exactly did Meredith manage to position herself with her hand on the bomb without the bomb going off. Two, when the bomb went off - what happened to the bomb squad guy who was diffusing it. Do we assume he dies.
I like Christina Chang, I see alot of myself in her, but her relationship with Preston Burke is getting on my nerves. The whole bit about not letting on that she loves him. Ridiculous. I don't find that believable.
Izzie with just a bra on was good to see. More of the same please.
lily.
12-04-2007, 09:07 PM
Ok, firstly, Mer obviously put her hand in as soon as Hannah (the Paramedic) took hers out. Nobody said the bomb would definitely go off if she removed her hand, but it was a possibility. So, basically Mer was lucky it didn't.
Secondly, didn't you hear the conversation about "pink mist" between Hannah and the anaethesiologist? Didn't you see the "pink mist" after the explosion? That's what became of the bomb guy... and probably his colleagues as well.
Cristina's name is "Yang" not "Chang" and her relationship with Burke is like that because she has huge intimacy issues, which is clear throughout the show. She's so career driven and she has trouble with human emotions as well. I don't know if the episode with the organ harvesting has been on yet, but you see her lack of people skills in it.

Sorry for not listening too closely and missing the 'pink mist' comment, the cliched dialogue has me doing that. So many speeches by so many characters. Personally, I cant remember that last time I made a speech during a normal conversation.
Sorry for also getting Christina name wrong. A genuine slip. As I say, I like her but her character is not even remotely believable. Intimacy issues, Jeez. She's a fridge for god sake.
Anyway, I watched some of this weeks double bill so I will comment properley when I've done. McSteamy is in it now. So realistic the way they gave him his nickname - McSexy, McYummy, McSteamy awwww yeah - Christina warmed a bit in that scene didn't she.

See - I don't think it is different from a lot of shows. There's nothing in Greys that we haven't already seen in Scrubs and ER. I loved this show when it started but it has really gone downhill. I've seen enough of season 3 for me to conclude that this show has jumped the shark.

Maybe I just dont understand jealousy and possesiveness but the fact that someone is with me is answers to all the doubts thay may have about me staying with them. That kind of petty jealousy is not attractive. Not in any way, shape or form. Plus, did you see the state of the guy? Surely she can do better.
Last nights first episode was the one where McMeredith finds out she's got a sister. There was auite quite of character development and not a lot of plot. Big batty latino doctor wears way too much make up and the whole thing with Addision - fit woman, rotten actress btw - tying up that womans fallopian tubes made me laugh out loud. McVet made an appearance in this episode too. What is it with all the Mc business. What a first date he took her on - the birth of a horse - the show gets more and more out there every week.

Really into this show again. Bought all the boxsets I didn't have and been hooked ever since. The Izzie cancer storyline was really sad and I'm glad they didn't kill her off, I wish she had a proper exit in S6 though. George's death, I already knew of but it was still really sad, and the John Doe twist made it even worse. :( Wow at the S6 finale as well! Really gripping stuff, best Grey's finale so far I'd say. I love Arizona also, think she's a great character and I'm glad she was made a regular. Looking forward to the musical episode next week!

N'aww old thread.
Grey's is pissing me off at the moment because MerDer are getting no screentime, am looking forward to the musical though.

I noticed that too! I do like most of the new characters but they are getting way too much screentime, I like Arizona and Callie but their not even original characters, they are featured so heavily these days. The original interns (Alex, Cristina and Meredith) and Derek, the Chief and Bailey should be getting most screentime just because their originals. The musical ep does look good though from the previews I've watched.

Anyone still watching Greys? I'm still loving it 8 seasons in. I really hope that the original characters stick around for at least another season, I don't want them to leave. :( Felt so sorry for Teddie in the season finale with Henry dying, I had an inkling that they might kill him off but it was so sad. Glad Meredith and Derek have got the baby back, about time too! She should never have been taken from them.
Looking forward to watching tonights ep soon!
