I saw it and gave em 10 out of 10 for cheek and effort:laugh::joker: No being serious, how they had the nerve, I don't know, and I feel sorry for the kids he's got, thinking they've got something then loosing everything. Just what were they thinking, if they thought they could get away with it.:conf:

I thought it was hilarious - especially the way in which it was edited and some of the lines from Martin Bashir -
'Another guilty cough from Whittock'
'The cheats were about to be rumbled'

How any of them could deny not cheating is stupid really and after tonights show they will be embarassed because it was so damn obvious - but I couldnt help but feel sorry for the major. The wife annoyed me a bit and poor Whittock seemed so innocent.
As ridiculous and foolish as it was, I dont think it deserves anything along the lines of imprisonment - who here hasnt cheated at home when playing games with friends or family, they just happened to do it on live telvision and with a lot of money at stake!

I watched it too Amy and, like you, couldn't believe what I was seeing(or hearing!!).

I know they said at the top of the programme that they had 'highlighted' the coughs so we could hear them more clearly but, even so, it was pretty blatant IMO.

On what I saw tonight, he definitely didn't deserve the £1,000,000 and I'm glad he's never seen a penny.

I've just watched this too.

I was prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt until tonight...it was a little too obvious to be comfortable I'm afraid.

That's exaclty my feelings too. Before the show, I thought that perhaps the coughing was accidental and had no meaning.

Then I saw the show lol

How they can stand up in court and say there was no conspiracy - its stupid.
Bad enough Tequin (sp?) doing it, but when the wife coughed, it was funny if anything.

They have 15months imprisonment don't they?

They all got fined and SUSPENDED prison sentences I think.

I read that they were all considering appealing against the verdict. I feel they may need to rethink that after tonight's showing!!

Tecwen Whittock was on Richard and Judy's show the other day protesting his innocence.

Although it was quite funny the way that Major Ingram initially dismissed the correct answers on the big money questions, only to arrive eventually at the right answer.

Yeah they got suspended sentences, effectively meaning no time behind bars.

Appealing, would make it more of joke than it is already, if I were them I'd keep my head down and wait for people to forget about it. Unless they hope to get a few bob through the papers, doubt they'll get one over on the Sun though. It would be another Jeffery Archer case.:thumbs:

I'm afraid I was utterly convinced by the end that they had been cheating. It was a really crude system too - pathetically transparent.

I do think there may have been 'selective' shots of the major's wife looking across, but his behaviour around the choice of answers was the clincher for me. it was patently obvious he had no idea on so many.

He was on BBC breakfast with his wife this morning, again strongly denying it, but sorry, he looked like a guilty man to me. His response when informed by phone about the programme adjudicators doubts was also revealing. He was too controlled.

Teclan Whittock was also on GMTV and he , if lying, is altogether more convincing. It still doesn't wash though.

The major's wife is an absolute horror though. I found myself intensely disliking her.

As for the appeal, none of them sounds to me as if they will - I think they know they have no chance. I suspect they are now just out to recoup their losses through the media.

Amy, I didn't notice the cough medicine advert - classic!

I saw Tecwen Whittock on GMTV this morning as well. All I can say is that if he does indeed suffer from some sort of chronic cough, as he claims, then I would like whatever he's got too please if it gets me to £1,000,000!!!

It seems so obvious that they cheated after watching the program, but I did feel that Martin Bashir should have interviewed them as well to give the balance to the program - although maybe they turned the offer down.

The major's wife reminds me of the queen of Narnia when it was all snowed up in "The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe"!

I have to say I'm in complete agreement with you all - there's not a shadow of a doubt that they cheated their way to the £1 million.

I started to watch the programme with an open mind, and with the view of giving the Major and Mr Whittock the benefit of the doubt. That disappeared within the first 15 minutes or so of the programme. OK, so the coughing was 'highlighted', but it was too blatant for words - especially the *cough . . . no* incident. Unbelievable!!

They all deserved everything they got, IMHO.

I see they asked Tecwen in court did you cheat and he coughed... no. :joker:

They asked the major guilty or not guilty he thought about it for a minute or two repeated the charges and his misses coughed from the bence on the not guilty charge, so he said arr... not guilty your honour but I haven't a clue really:thumbs:

Its odd that Tecwen had this terrible cough when the major was in the hotseat but when he won fastest finget first straight afterwards and got in the hotseat it miraculously disapeared!

Did U all watch this? Just wondering if anyone watched the Anne Frank prog? It was horrible, it didnt end where the diary ends, it showed her in the concentration camp and it was really disturbing, did anyone see it?

I've seen it before princess on sky, It's very moving and well acted. I've read her diary too. But getting back to who wants to be a millionaire, a major fraud.

OH and I couldnt believe what we were seeing. So had to watch the full version on ITV2 afterwards.

Even though not quite so noticeable the coughing was still really audible.

They must have been mad to think they could get away with taking the show for a million. Probably would have got away with it if they had stopped at £64,000 but got greedy and it got more and more obvious as time goes on.

Wonder if they will give out cough lozenges to future contestants/audience.

BTW did Lee notice anything odd going on when she was in the audience or were they all on their best behaviour?
