Seventies heartthrob David Cassidy is being lined-up for the new series of Celebrity Big Brother .

The former Patridge Family star has been offered £100,000 to spice things up on the Channel 5 series.

A TV source told the Sunday People: “TV bosses want him to go in there like a human grenade and say what he thinks.

“He is renowned for his straight-talking.

“Plus he’s been through the mile - divorce, bankruptcy, three drink-driving arrests and rehab, so he’ll have a lot to talk about.”

The I Think I Love You singer, who’s now 66, lives in Florida.

He caught the eye of production heads last September, after giving a fiery interview on ITV’s This Morning and causing a furore with viewers who suggested he appeared drunk.

I don't know if it's the Mirror article you linked but I read one earlier today that said Eamonn Holmes tweeted saying he would be good for CBB as he's a twat or something along them lines...
