I personally feel that Sega needs to stop listening to the die hards on this let's "move back to basics" approach as most Games nowadays are 3D and Sonic not embracing that is gonna make them look dated to the general public.

Imo I like the newer Sonic Games (with the exception of that horrible 360 Game) I think that this Game is being clever with balancing old and new together, but it should be in 3D imo.

The only thing that could hurt that Game is that it looks a bit darker for a Sonic Game, I like darker stories, but considering that Sonic is aimed at a family audience I could see those Family Moms groups trying to ban it as it isn't "suitable" for their children even though they more than likely play GTA.:joker:

I think that Platformers can survive in 3D, especially a Sonic game with the kind of levels that they do.

The main thing that I think Sonic needs to do is maybe do a plot that shows that it's audience has grown up, we're not all kids anymore that play Sonic, Sonic Adventure & Sonic Adventure 2 came close to what I was saying, but I honestly think that the main issue is the lack of growing up in it's plotlines.

I don't mean going dark either, just more of a grown up vibe that even Mario does in some of it's side installments.

The camera angles I'll give you is a problem in 3D Sonic.

I honestly don't think that in a 3D age where Games are pushing the boat out with new graphical ideas, and plot ideas, that Sonic revisiting the very first Game is a wise idea.

I think that Sonic Mania will be a good Game, but it won't be the answer for the general public.

Why not? Super Mario still remains the most successful franchise of all time, because Nintendo have never strayed too far from the formula. Both 2D and 3D Mario games sell by the bucket load. Sonic Generations was well received and was a commercial success because people saw it as a return to form. It will 100% answer for Sonic fans; we've had 3D Sonic for 16 years and none of those games have matched the success of the first games.

So I've played pretty much all of it now (minus the last boss but I needed to go to bed). It is PHENOMENAL. Like I have been so excited for this game all year and it actually exceed my expectations.

what do they do anyway? ALSO what tf are those weird levels where you have to collect blue balls (not the chase the UFO ones, the other ones that start when you pass a checkpoint thingy)

anyway i can’t get past the egg dude guy when he has all those green chain things near his body then a giant purple hand sends you to some weird as **** mini stage thing

If you get all 7 you can turn into super sonic/tails/knuckles if you’ve got 50+ rings, which makes beating bosses a doddle (that and you need them to unlock the true final boss/ending if you’re playing as sonic).

The bonus game at the checkpoints are called blue sphere. To get unlockables in the game, you have to collect all blue sphere’s and rings in each one. Some rings will be already visible in the stage, others will be hidden. These rings can be revealed by surrounding blocks of blue spheres completely by an outline of red spheres—the entire block will then be turned into rings. So lets say you come across a large square consisting of, say 24 blue spheres, collect the outer blue spheres and all of the others will turn into rings.
