Would they do a season so early after finishing 18?

I bet they want to do season 19 so they can do All Stars 2 next year seeing as it is the 20th season

cahh even more over killed then BBUK, 99 days of BB18 then another 99 days of BB19?

"show is casting now and will air mid-September"

fake

Jack_

I'd be here for it but if they claim it's starting in September straight after this season and with Survivor starting too it's BS. No way is that happening

It'd air in the winter like BB9 again surely

Not BB19 to launch on the same night as the finale of BB18

I don't know how reliable this is since CBS has a full schedule and they wouldn't bother airing it on POP. It could maybe be a CBS All Access season but I'd hate that.

This sounds like a disaster in the making and I don't want it to be true, but I'll be interested to see just how much better the cast is without Robyn Kass in charge. I just think she's an abomination and unprofessional :3

Jack_
02-08-2016, 06:33 PM
Robyn casts BBCan incredibly well though so I often wonder if it's because Grodner and co are interfering too much that leads to the one-dimensional typecasts we get for BBUS

Macie Lightfoot
02-08-2016, 06:40 PM
eh, I found BBCan3 and 4 to have casts as lackluster as recent BBUS seasons. The entire franchise hasn't been anything special since the switch to Global.

Robyn casts fine... I think she started slipping on like BB14 & BB15 but both the last 2 BBUS casts (BB16 & BB17) and the last 2 BBCAN casts have been pretty great lol...

Idk what to think of this year's cast yet but so far it's a flop overall. There are just a few I really like and one of those is a returnee and another is the brother of a past houseguest (who isn't really as good). Not to mention they just don't mesh well together for entertainment.

Not there being a Big Brother series to watch in nearly every month of the year

By my reckoning (CBB; Jan-Feb, BBCan; March-May, BBUK; June-July, CBB; July-August, BBUS; June-September, BBUS 2.0; October-December), we'll have had a full twelve months of this show, which is not as fun as it sounds

And then CBB starts again in January, and if it overlaps into February with BBCan starting in March again, with BBUS back on in June, this long chain won't be over till September 2017 which is a whole 21 months of the show

Then again, we might get February next year off so who knows

Some very small details revealed about this today:

A few more details about the forthcoming fall season of Big Brother came during CBS’ TCA session for CBS All Access yesterday. That’s the streaming, subscription-only service where the fall season will be broadcast.

While the TCA session was mostly focused on Star Trek: Discovery, the highly anticipated show with the unfortunate acronym, CBS Interactive president and COO Marc DeBevoise talked briefly about Big Brother. (He also said they’re keeping ST: D : “we are committed to the title”).

He said two new things about Big Brother’s fall season:

- Its “title and details will be forthcoming”

- “we’ll be playing off of the Big Brother live feeds concept, which is how we run the camera feeds of the house 24/7 online for CBS All Access subscribers”

So here is what we know about it so far:

- It will not be season 19 of Big Brother. That will air next summer, followed by season 20 in 2018.

- The show will debut “soon” after the Sept. 21 finale of BB18.

- It will last about 10 weeks, at least a full month shorter than the summer seasons.

- Julie Chen will host.

- The show’s regular producers, Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan, will executive produce this season, too.

- There will be a new title, presumably a subtitle.

- Casting is ongoing.

- The production will “reimagine this format for multi-platform audiences,” as DeBevoise said in an earlier press release.

Little more released today:

CBS confirmed in early August that “Big Brother” will be airing a fall edition in 2016 that will air exclusively on CBS All Access.

Now, after speaking with the show’s executive producers and two CBS executives, Zap2it has some info for the “Big Brother” fans wondering just what this new season will look like.

Julie Chen’s involvement

Chen already tweeted that she would be involved in “Big Brother” on All Access, though CBS Interactive president Marc DeBevoise tells us Chen’s role will be a little different than TV viewers are used to.

“The show’s a little different, so the role isn’t exactly the same,” says DeBevoise. “But she will have her lead role in the show … she’s going to be the main person.”

Will there be past houseguests involved in some way?

DeBevoise says they’ve considered having past houseguests involved the way that former contestant Jeff Schroeder currently does interviews for the live feeds, while executive producer Rich Meehan says that they haven’t decided if they will have past players actually inside the house as contestants.

“We’re in the thick of re-imagining [the show], so we haven’t gotten to the point of ‘should we bring back people yet?'” says Meehan, as his co-executive producer Allison Grodner adds, “It could happen, you never know … there’s some legends that maybe you save for summer ‘Big Brother’ in the future, seeing as we just got picked up for two more [seasons].”

[B]What does 're-imagining' mean?

"They're working on what the format is going to be, so it's not going to be exactly how summer is, it's going to be the digital edition," says CBS president Glenn Gellar.

When pressed for details, Grodner says, "It's interesting because it's going to be such a different -- it's still 'Big Brother' but it's live -- the competitions won't be as big and all of that that we do because that's just the way it's going to play out. Competitions can possibly play out longer, people will be able to see everything, it won't be blocked."

Will there be packaged episodes?

"We're working on trying to come up with something so the All Access people that watch the feeds, they can do what they love, but if you're a broadcast watcher, there will be things for you to watch as well, so we're still trying to crack what that is, but we want to be able to appeal to the full audience," says Meehan. "We want to create times and schedules so if people just want to pop on for a key event, they can do that."

"You have to have some catch up [for people who don't watch the feeds]," Grodner explains. " the feeds are now primary. It's a whole new way of looking at it. We're really looking forward to it 'cause it really isn't being done anywhere. It's a bold experiment by CBS and it's the perfect show to do it with."

[B]The feeds will be spiced up

"I think that with a lot of the feeds now, there's a lot of long blocks [when they're down] for our competitions, you see a lot of people asleep -- there will be a reason for people to be awake, how about that?" teases Grodner.

DeBevoise adds that the show will be "without the restrictions of broadcast television to make it a little bit more interesting."

http://zap2it.com/2016/08/big-brother-on-cbs-all-access-everything-we-know/

It basically sounds like they're focusing more on the 'live' aspect of the show (though the lack of episodes sounds worrying for those that can't get access to the feeds).

Meaning competitions/challenges/events/ceremonies would be potentially be seen live as they happen and the live stream would never go off/being blocked.

Meaning a true 24/7 stream. In other words, when one of the houseguests says itīs time to pick players for the veto competition or itīs time for the veto competition the feeds wouldnīt be blocked and the event would be streamed as it is.

But how will we know how the comps work if they're not preceded by multiple confessionals explaining the same rules twenty different ways?

^ Theyīll probably do them, but with less quality than before.

This sounds like a good idea and it should happen anyway but they need to make highlight shows as well but since they don't acknowledge international watchers it probs won't happen. It would be okay if other countries can pay to watch it all I would but for obvious reasons I cant  It's a money grabber thing so casual viewers from USA will have to pay for live feeds.

Maybe a VPN could bypass the country blocking?

I think they will come up with some type of show because other wise the diary room would be pointless. And they still need to do some type of eviction show. Its gonna be weird/ hard to pull this off properly and it might take some trial by error to figure out the best way to do it. It sounds like a cool idea but it might end up to be a crap so will see I guess.

That would potentially mean only Macie and Jersey would be commenting in the episodes/feed threads.

The 24/7 feeds thing shouldnīt be a problem as other countries (bar Canada and Australia who do not have feeds anymore) have done it for years.

There most likely is, but it might cost you. You either have to buy a VPN service or use the VPN apps to bypass the country restrictions. And of course invent some bogus information about your whereabouts when ordering the service.

CBS charges people to watch feeds and you need a US credit card for that, so our only hope is other websites which gets taken down most times.

Oh, yeah, i forgot they have added international banking restrictions (meaning you have to have a credit card thatīs been issued by an US situated bank to access it) for it too.

Most likely it tells you that your account has been compromised due to multiple connections (different IPīs) and has been closed/freezed/locked for your safety (the account holder).
And then saying you can unlock your account by issuing them your email that you signed for in the account.

I'm like 90% sure that someone will stream it someplace online. I dunno how interested I'll be in it cus it doesn't feel like a 'real' Big Brother. Definitely curious about it though.

how will we know people's motivations to win comps without confessionals?

The thought of being able to watch ceremonies unedited is certainly interesting but I'm not entirely sure how easy this is gonna be to follow, especially outside of the US

I was also (perhaps naively) hoping that it would just be a pure season, no @ increased viewer participation

mixing up our idioms are we

(I mean, yeah, they are. But it's a good opportunity to try something like this with a show that it won't reflect on too badly if this all flops)
