Dani Mathers, Playboy’s 2015 Playmate of the Year, was at L.A. Fitness on Wednesday when the body of a fellow gym-goer offended her. The 29-year-old took to Snapchat to post the woman’s body — naked, on her story.

The caption: “If I can’t see unsee this then you can’t either.” It pictured Mathers, sporting weight-lifting gloves and a Nike tank top, covering her mouth in false-shock. What resulted was likely thousands looking at this woman’s nude body, fat-shamed by a blond Playmate, on Mathers’s public Snapchat.

The backlash was strong — Mathers has been banned from L.A. Fitness, indefinitely suspended from her radio gig on a popular Los Angeles station and predictably lambasted on the Internet.

She apologized, then deleted her Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat, according to the New York Daily News.

But apologies don’t work in court. And that’s where Mathers might be headed next.

That’s because LA Fitness banned Mathers from all 800-plus of its gyms, then notified the Los Angeles Police Department that Mathers photographed a member in its locker room. That’s strictly prohibited, the Los Angeles Times reported.

“Her behavior is appalling and puts every member at risk of losing their privacy,” said Jill Greuling, the company’s executive vice president of operations.

Yeah such a violation of that womans privacy in a place where she should feel totally secure too. I understand why that woman hasn't come forward but it's a pity because if she had and that girl had to face criminal charges it would be a good deterrent for anyone else thinking about doing something like that in the future. It's called an eye for an eye and it's no better or worse than fat shaming.

There are clearly plenty of awful things to point out about this woman on a personal level, things that she has chosen to be and things that she has chosen to do and say, without resorting to mocking appearance... suggesting that there's something ugly and / or funny about a random physical trait. She's done it to someone else, yes, and that's a vile thing to do... Doesn't justify "doing it back", even if it's obviously on a much smaller platform.

Edited to add: to elaborate further... When you mock a random physical trait you're not just mocking that person, you're mocking every other person who happens to look similar or have that same trait, whether they have done anything wrong or not. Worth considering.

A Playboy model who posted a photograph of an elderly woman naked in the gym changing room, with a sarcastic comment, could face a prison sentence and a $1 million damages claim after the victim said that she was interested in pressing charges.

Dani Mathers, the 2015 Playboy Playmate of the Year, took the unflattering photograph in July, inside a Los Angeles gym.

The woman was dressing, and was photographed naked with the caption: “If I can’t unsee this then you can’t either.”

She posted the image on Snapchat, and was greeted with a barrage of anger at her “body shaming” of the pensioner.

She was fired from her job with LA radio station KLOS, and the Los Angeles Police Department has opened a criminal investigation into the matter.

Devin McRae, an entertainment lawyer, said that the victim could be in line for a $1 million claim for damages.




“It could go into the seven figures, it would seem,” he told website The Wrap. “I think the victim would have a very solid case.”

He said she could sue for invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress. She could also potentially sue under a “revenge porn” statute, which forbids the intentional distribution of an image of a person without that person’s consent, if the distributor of the image knew that the subject had a “reasonable expectation that the material would remain private” and if the image “exposes an intimate body part of the other person”.

Dissemination of private images carries a punishment of up to six months behind bars.

The LAPD is looking to make an example out of Mathers, and the LA city attorney has already launched a review of the case and will announce its decision soon, according to gossip site TMZ.

Mathers, 29, claimed that she posted the image by mistake, and issued an apology.

“I just want to acknowledge a photo that I accidentally posted,” she said. “It was absolutely wrong and not what I meant to do. I chose to do what I do for a living because I love the female body and I know body shaming is wrong, that’s not what I’m about and this is not the type of person I am.

“The photo was taken as part of a personal conversation with a girlfriend and because I am new to Snapchat I really didn’t realise I had posted it, and that was a huge mistake.

“I know I have upset a lot of people out there but please, please believe me this when I say this: This is not the type of person that I am.

"I have never done this before and I will never do this again, you have my word.”

Her lawyer Tom Mesereau, who helped Michael Jackson beat child molestation charges in 2005, said he hoped that reports the woman was intending to press charges were false.

“I hope the rumours are not true,” he said.

“Dani Mathers never tried to hurt anyone at any time and certainly never tried to break the law.”

I have a friend who is overweight and some the stories she has told me are horrendous. She tries quite hard to keep herself fit but gets a lot of abuse to the point where it makes her want to give up. She said she has taken her daughter and a friend to the cinema and stood in the queue and listened to a young guy in front talking about her loudly to the girl with him, saying what a mess she was and shouldn't be allowed out in public and her young daughter could hear too. Her little girl was horrified and very upset.

Another time she was staying at a hotel with her family on holiday and they had been eating in the hotel but she wasn't happy with the children's menu which was all burgers and chicken nuggets. Because she has a weight problem she is very conscious of her children eating healthily so she was asking at the reception about small portions for her children from the adult menu which was more healthy and was called a fat pig by a man at the reception behind her for looking at the menu before dinner.

She is a lovely person with a kind sweet face and a kind sweet personality, so what if she has a weight problem? It's hard enough for her to deal with, let alone putting up with other peoples ****. :fist:
