Graphics & Testing Section?

I know this idea has been pitched before, but seeing as we got a debates section, theres no excuse why we can't have a graphics section. It'll be easier for the forum as you won't have threads about requests all over the place, it can all be kept in one section.

I think we already have a thread but no one uses it. Plus, people can have request threads so it's easier then asking people on MSN. <_< It'll be a lot easier.

i think thats a good idea because a lot of people are proud of stuff they have done but cant show it because they already have the maximum amount of banners or something

I know. The whole certain amount of banners in a sig could help, people could showcase their work in there.

Well we could just have one thread, the same as we do for deaths notices. That way it would all be in one place. It could be made a sticky say in help and suggestions so it would be easy to find. I don't see why we need more than one thread for it.

If you want a show case thread we could do the same with that. Just a single thread where interested people look through peoples work.

Thanks for agreeing, in a way. But I do think it would be better as a section. With the death thread all you do is post a persons death in one thread. But for this graphics idea we would need a load of threads. Turorials, showcasing, requests etc.

but sometimes though people give a miss to a thread because there are so many pages but if we had a section it could be easier but if thats not allowed lol then your idea seems good red

I still there are a need for other forums before we have one on graphics. After the graphics on the site have been the pain in the past.

Nobody follows the rules.

Just thinking further everyone's work is showcased under there names. Some of the them have become so large that they they just show down the site loading. Especially when people use png files.

That is why you make it a sticky so it always appears at the top of the help and suggestions forum.

Well you get the clearest quality from .png so it's common for people to use it. :laugh:

Yeah, I could understand WHY it could be a problem. But I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end.

No offence to Sticks, but I think that a thread would be better as he just needs to post the death of someone. There would be no point in a thread for one person.

I know it is. But theres frequently people not only asking for banner REQUESTS, but also people asking for banner HELP - in terms of how to use the basics of PSP etc and at the moment there is nowhere where all this can go where it is easily accessible by most members.

Isn't there already a banner request thread that people should be using?

I know, it needs more care, but if they're all merged into one thread, it'll just get confusing and people won't know when or if someone has asked for one. They'll be 10 different threads merged into one. Like the current one now, that's why no one uses it.

There are loads of tutorials, if we do get a section, it could be made as a sticky for people in there.

100% agree. I thought that it could be a sub-forum, but I didn't know where. Maybe this could work better.

May be there needs to be three threads then:

1. graphics showcase - where people can show off there work and state they accept requests

2. graphics requests - where people can request work to be done by the person whose work they like.

3. graphics help and tips - where links to good tutorials can be posted as well tips, tricks and general advice.

All could be sticky threads in the help and suggestion section were the existing request thread is.

That would work better than what the current state of graphics is, Red. I still think sub-forum would work easier as there is so many different aspects of Helps & Tips that could arise from merging, the colouring, to blending and godknows what else.

Also, I think this could be a good idea because personally I have never got into PSP or graphics or anything because tutorials on the net don't allow you to ask questions etc - I think this would be a perfect addition to TiBB.

Well it depends on the idea really. Personally a sub-section for graphics seems like something that would work, and at the same time keep graphic related threads in the right place, rather then merging them all into one.

There's not many things people could argue a sub-section for.
Like Sticks' obituaries, that can't genuinely vouch for a full subsection because there's not much variation to announcing deaths, whereas where graphics is concerned - it's a huge topic area and interests MANY people.

I think this is a brilliant idea. We have great sections on TiBB but a Graphics section would be an excellent addition - there are plenty of things that can be involved in it, such as requests, tutorials, general help and other things mentioned. Admin should definitely think about this and hopefully add another section! It'd make TiBB an even better and even more user-friendly (especially for newbies) place I reckon.

It was my pleasure. But with a section much more help could be given. Tutorials, Brush/Fonts sites and loads more. It'll also help people start doing graphics on the forum. I'm sure I could find some links for PSP/PS downloads.

they do lead you step-by-step and if you want first hand advice you can just email them or just ask the admin for abit of help to learn it. i just though that tutorials might come in handy.

i love them its really cool what everybody makes and if the admins are kind enough to let us have it 1) we will love all of the admin staff forever and 2) everybody will be happy because i havent heard one person except red moon kind of say it wasnt a good idea

I can understand why you'd want it so much but i can understand what Red is saying. I requested a Music one a few months back and we didn't get it and music is something which EVERYONE talks about.

I remember someone asking for a sport one too and didn't get it which is another really common subject to talk about.

I think the best idea would be to creat a new section called something like 'Members Forums' and in there have sub-forums for Graphics, Music, Sport etc and then any other requests that will be popular and posted in a lot. If not then the sub-forum goes.

How would people feel if we had sections like Legend described and in those sections posts wouldn't count towards the total post count?

The idea being this is a Big Brother forum. We are not a general chat forum and to keep the focus of the board on the main subject only posts made in main subject area should count to the post count.

I think that's a good idea Red, and also, I don't feel it should make a difference at all if post counts aren't increased there - at the end of the day it's for our benefit that the Graphics section in particular would be there in the first place, not for post count. As for other sub-sections, I don't think that should make a difference either - I think you're right in saying that it shouldn't count anyway due to the fact that this is a Big Brother forum. Plus, now that we can't see how many posts we have exactly anyway means people are becoming less and less conscious of it as a whole.
