View Full Version : Got back from France!

Just got back from France (Reims) last night! It was really good... I went with some people from school, and it was generally to work in some random French place in order to practice the language, experience culture etc. There was stuff to do and places to go every single night as well which was really fun!

Back to routine now though... but I did have a brilliant time.

Thanks you two!
I went out every night... got to drink quite a lot of alcohol every single day - it's interesting how everything's so easy to get a hold of in other countries in Europe!!! And I've never done that before, not get drunk... but get drunk every day for a week.

And yeah Sophie there were!!! Some were a bit overly pervy though, lol.

When i went to France i didn't really have chance to try my french as they all wanted to try out there english on me!

Northern France... They are naughty up north, they had a right old laugh at my expense and sent me to the wrong terminal so i nearly missed the flight!

TWIN!!!!!! *runs and hugs* You're back!!

Bells
18-02-2007, 12:40 PM
Yeah you're right Tanser, a lot of them do speak English and want to practice at times... but I was shoved in a workplace where none of the people working there could speak any English at all really - apart from one!

And OMG yeah that reminds me!!! Me and my friends asked for directions so many times... and kept being caught up by weird men and weird people and given wrong directions. Took us about an hour walking round in circles until we got to the place we wanted to go to!

Never been to the south of France though. So I'm guessing it probably is just the people in the North!

I wouldn't have minded but the baggage people in Orly broke my suitcase so i had to carry it as apposed to dragging it, plus it was like 30 degrees outside so i wasn't the dryest person in the place and then they send me like a mile to another terminal at Charles De Gaule... A helpdesk man went mad at me for speaking in english to him. So i wasn't a happy bunny and eventually found an english man i recognised from my flight into the airport... so i followed him!

Northern France wasn't the most welcoming of places...

Aww bless, you just got unlucky Tanser haha, some of the people I was with were really nice... but then they were speaking fast fluent French so they might have been dropping in the odd curse whilst speaking and I wouldn't have known.

Seriously though, some are mean yeah, (not to mention creepy) but at the same time I met really friendly people and I generally did have an ace time. Reims is really differently set out... the buildings are different, and with it being the Champagne region you have special castles and cathedrals... and you get to try out champagne lots! (as well as other drinks too, of course). I suppose part of my fun came from the group of people I went with however - but I'd still recommend the north of France to people!

PLUS... it's not far from Paris either, and I  Paris.

Gald you're back/had a good time in France. I've never been before but when i go to Kenya, we're flying through Paris so get to spend about 6 hours there so we're going to go into the city.

Anyone recomend any good places? I wanted to go Disneyland for the day but they decided against that.

I know it's kinda cliche about Paris, but visiting the Eiffel Tower and the surrounding areas in the main city is good  And having a trip along the river and going to Cathédrale Notre Dame in Paris and stuff.

I think that's what they're planning, i'm not really into all that really though. I'd prefer Disneyland.

Although, i'm not going to knock it untill i've 'tried it'.

Is it cheap over there or dear?

My Sister went to Paris she said it was great

I have never been

Thanks everyone.

Yes there are LOTS of shops, and some of them are good value for money as well.
Also, whilst Disneyland is a great place to visit, I can understand why on a school trip people wouldn’t want you going, especially if you haven’t been to France before. Obviously it doesn’t allow to experience the culture, the place itself, the people, the history – for all that Paris is THE best place and you should have an absolutely amazing time.

I really want to go to the south of France now, but generally, I think the country’s brilliant!

Awwwww.
Actually doing something nice! LOL, I'm only kidding.
Also, I can sort of understand why, there were some dodgy people out there at night, and one guy had me in a death grip!! (Well, slight exaggeration), but he did put his arm round my neck in an overly-friendly way and walk off. They were obviously a bit too drunk, and thankfully we weren't at the time... and we all went out in groups...
