German AT police prepare to storm building as armed man barricades restaurant

German anti-terror police have surrounded a restaurant after an armed man barricaded himself inside this morning.

Specially trained officers were called to the 'Dubrovnik' restaurant in the western German city of Saarbruecken amid reports a man covered in blood was inside.

Heavily armed police have been seen gathering outside the eatery this morning while negotiators and psychologists are attempting to make contact with him.

The German newspaper Bild said that the man had run into the restaurant 'Dubrovnik' in the town centre and shouted that everyone should leave.
A police official said the man seemed to be in an 'exceptional psychological situation' and there were no indications that this was a terrorist-related incident.

The man is thought to be the son-in-law of the owner of the restaurant, the official said. He is originally from Macedonia but has lived in Germany for many years, he added.

'An injured man who barricaded himself in a restaurant in the western German city of Saarbruecken was later found asleep in the basement and detained, police said.
