View Full Version : Christopher Biggins To visit Auschwitz

It's been a tumultuous few days for Biggins since his ejection from the Celebrity Big Brother house, after making a series of controversial comments.
But now, speaking to The Sun, Biggins has said he plans to visit Auschwitz, in the Polish city of Krakow, later this year.
"I am going there. It will be my first time. I know it's going to be horrible. I know it's going to be ghastly. I know it's going to be emotional," Biggins said.
"Before I went into the house, my partner Neil and I were talking about it because we just feel the whole scenario of the Jewish annihilation is so horrific that we wanted to experience it for ourselves.
"We're going for five days in October. I'm really looking forward to it. Especially now after this incident.
Biggins also revealed that he, and some of his fellow housemates, all feared for their safety in the house.
Bear smashed a mirror by throwing a mug in rage following an argument earlier this week – and, unsurprisingly, it caused tension within the house.
Biggins explained: "The night after Bear went crazy and smashed the glass, people were upset. Bear went mad.
"I felt sorry for the cameraman behind it because the glass could have shattered on him.
"There's knifes and cutlery."
He revealed that Frankie Grande felt especially fearful and the dancer came to him and cried.
"He said that in America he can't be as vocal or outrageous as he would like because the fear is what happened in Orlando in the gay bar where that man shot all those gay people.
"He said he fears going out in America in glitter and outrageous clothes.
"But then he said: 'I'm frightened in here now after what happened last night.'
Between his unusual cocktail mixing, breaking out of jail and blowing up at his housemates after that nomination twist, Bear doesn't look like he's calming down anytime soon...
Bear was nominated for eternal nominations earlier this week, but see who else has been nominated tonight (7 august).

So he's using the literal site of some of the most horrific crimes in history as a gimmick / prop to improve his own image and "prove something"? ... ... ... Seriously misjudged, in my opinion.

He's using a visit to Auschwitz to say "Hey look everyone! See! Biggins LOVES Jews!"
It's pretty foul.

It makes the whole situation worse, instead of just apologising and saying that you will learn from your mistakes to grow a person he has to go the extra (thousand) miles and actually travel to a REAL concentration camp as an attempt to protect his image?

If he is going to Auschwitz and takes the Sun or whoever with him for the photo opportunity then this is in incredibly bad taste.

Obviously, but why bother? If he's that desperate to be loved then he shouldn't talk sh*t on a TV programme.

This is painful, it makes the whole reasons for him visiting seem forced on and fake which isn't appropriate for a place like this

Yup, he must be insane if he thinks this is going to do him any good. If the man wants to make some kind of visit there do it privately, don't make a media circus out of it.
For me its pretty telling how nasty he must have been to Katie. For him to focus in on something that wasn't even shown on the program (because it was beyond the bounds of acceptable broadcast) he must be crapping the whole story comes out.

If this is his agents idea of damage limitation then he's a **** agent!
He'll be off to Africa the following week to show that he loves everyone there as much as his black neighbours.

If this is true then it's a very bad idea. Maybe it would serve him better to close the door to any more gutter press interviews and try to use a better medium. A more serious TV programme (once) might be a much better idea. It's a case of damage limitation now.

he really really really needs to stop talking to the press:
"I am going there. It will be my first time. I know it's going to be horrible. I know it's going to be ghastly. I know it's going to be emotional," Biggins said.
"Before I went into the house, my partner Neil and I were talking about it because we just feel the whole scenario of the Jewish annihilation is so horrific that we wanted to experience it for ourselves.
"We're going for five days in October. I'm really looking forward to it. Especially now after this incident.
.
his jewish agent is desperate for damage limitation and probably envisaged a photoshoot of serious and maybe a little humble biggins experiencing the ghastly pain... which'd work to an extent, but not whilst the twat keep yattering on as he is.

He might fall in love with Africa like Paul Simon did when he wrote the Graceland album.:joker:
But seriously, this is getting out of hand now. There are a couple of morons on the DS forum that have been claiming that Biggins said bisexuals had sex with monkeys in Africa, when he never said any such thing.
The hysteria is nonsense. Nobody really gives a toss. Biggins should just let it all blow over.
Actually, in his position, I would just say "haters gonna hate" and stick two fingers up to all the idiots.

sorry to tell this but biggins is in an industry that is run by the jews, if you dare cross them in anyway your out, marlon brando slated the jewish bosses in hollywood for promoting high levels of violence in movies and not understanding the suffering in the real world, next they wanted to have him up on a hook, he went to a jewish synagogue and with one knee down and both hands grabbed on one rabbi hand, and he put his head down, and then begged for forgiveness and he had tears on his eyes, biggins made a light joke, but he did not do it to attack jews, and its not right that he should be made to grovel,
Wizard.

I think everyone should visit Auschwitz. If only to remind us of what we are capable of. The birds don't sing there, even now.
..I'm still a bit unclear what Biggins said exactly that caused his removal from the house because he seems to have many prejudices but it was a 'joke' comparing the shower to a gas chamber in a concentration camp..?...hmmm, maybe he is going to visit Auschwitz as a 'damage limitation' thing and more for himself to try to preserve his income and get work etc...but whatever the reason, surely it's a good thing because it might change and have him reassessing some of his mind-sets ..?...it's not somewhere that can't have an emotional effect and to provoke thought...and surely that's a good thing, whatever the reasons for going because it's better to have a prejudice reassessed and possibly removed than to just leave it there and forever judge because of it...isn't it better to have altered and changed mind-sets and re-assed mindsets, rather than him not going and leaving prejudice and intolerance out there....

Yeah, I do agree with you, and I'm really interested in going one day. I've already been to one Holocaust memorial centre and have heard the story of a Holocaust survivor.
However, I do find that in this instance it is completely tasteless giving the circumstances. I don't think he would ever have went if it weren't for his removal, and in my opinion it's a really tacky case of damage control. All he has to say is that he's not anti-Semitic and most people would have probably left the situation. This is making it completely worse because his intentions are obviously questionable.

Exactly, and even if it was simply the case that he wants to have a look at himself and understand more about it, he and his partner would just have quietly gone there. A personal experience. The fact that he felt the need to state it publicly is what makes it obvious that it's not about personal reflection at all, it's about his professional image, and using "stunt" involving a place like that to preserve his career... It's just tasteless in the extreme.

This has really got out of hand. Biggins was simply having a dig at Big Brother, not a personal attack of Katie or any Jews for that matter.
He is a nice bloke. What he said, in jest, could be said by any one of us especially if we were holed up in the BB house with inadequate shower facilities.

..but do you think it really matters what the motivation TS if the result were to be that it took away a prejudice and caused someone to re-asses etc..isn't that the important thing more than anything else../ the end result as it were if it was a positive one and removed one negative mind-set..the rest of it is more well we get to decide and don't buy the book/watch the movie/the TV Show etc because are things that each and every one of us have control in doing, in whether that 'damage limitation' or whatever can have success in terms of his career/income....he's kind of 'perfect celebrity' for a CBB in some years time because he wants to change public opinion of him for that one time he went into a reality show and was hated/judged forever more etc...how ironic is that, baby....I just think that he can lay low as it were and we can carry on in our negative judgement of a person and to what gain or value or there could be someone come out of CBB who really has 'made a journey' and become a better person..

Definitely! I don't know if he's going to be on This Morning, but I don't doubt he would've wanted to discuss this to some extent just so he could make people aware of the damage control. That's if he's not already dumbfounded by the negative response.

Let's not have any more older people in the house. Let's fill it up with tit-birds, prostitutes, mouthy-southy Essex boys, failed soap stars and miscellaneous other wastes of space... so long as there's no one older in there. Their opinions aren't like yours and their humour is different too, so let's keep it real and make sure we watch only uneducated chavs and reality stars for three weeks.
There aren't many Jews on this forum and I can't speak for anyone else... but I am more annoyed by the fake outrage than by the joke - and that's what it was, a joke.

Oh man, talk about damage control. The way he's just putting it out there over just going on his own, without having to inform the media about it, reeks of desperation to cover it all up.
If he's really serious about visiting Auschwitz he should invite Katie so she can share with him her family's history with that place. Or maybe have an actual survivor give him a personal tour of it. Going there is one thing, but its so much more impactful and honestly life changing when you go there and you get the opportunity to see, talk to, and hear a survivor's account of being in Auschwitz.
Hopefully he can learn from this experience.
