View Full Version : Anyone else feel like switching off?

Firewire

I've never turned off during a series in my life but considered it during BB12.

And here I am again, contemplating switching this off. Why should I bother when I'm not enjoying it? There's other things I could invest my time in.

It's only going to get worse.

I just keep it on at the background atm since i'm not that invested but if Aubrey and Renee go next I probably will not care at all

Pete.

Erm not particularly but maybe by this time next week. There are still quite a lot of good HMs still in even though I'm gutted Saira went. It's not as dire as the state CBB14 was in (which I did give up on)

I was just starting to get back into it again but yeah I think I'm done now

I don't think it's a bad series per se, but I haven't been invested in it whatsoever and the trajectory we're going down is pretty obvious (and Bear-shaped) so yup

I've done it once with this series, cut back into it a couple days ago... Turning off again.

Rob!
09-08-2016, 08:51 PM
Yeah I'm done tbh. Lewis was saved for having a big dick. That's it. Saira was the most interesting one of all of them that were up. There's just too many reality types in there for me to be able to stomach and they're ALL pricks.
Ricky to win tbh

I've never switched of either and still probably won't but i will pay much less attention to the series
I won't catch up if I miss an episode and just have it in the background

Kind of. I didnt like Saira but its quite obvious what the producers emphasis for this series and frankly I dont think I'm gonna find it entertaining.

Absolutely agree, and it is that which is making me consider opting out even though I've never done so before. So disappointing.

If it continues to be the Lewis/Marnie/Bear/Chloe show then yes. I think the editing is more of a problem than the housenates themselves. They're jsut not showing anyone else.

If I wanted to watch Love Island I would.

It's dire and I don't look forward to watching like I usually do. It's just same old, same old...Since I find Bear utterly repulsive there is little point. Some of the rubbish on this series can almost feel like an assault on my sensitivities.

Don't switch off. Things will change for sure hopefully the producers will let us see the other HM's more although I'm not sure Ricky will bring anything to the table he's so dissapointing.

I'm glad bear didn't get evicted tonight, tbh I don't want him to go on Friday but for sure he needs to be out next week.

No, even when I get really mad at a series, I will never stop watching BB.
Although now I see it not so much as what BB should be but as a sort of interactive soap with totally ridiculous storylines.

Yes sadly this is disappearing up it own backside , and the results will not be pleasant , can't help but think Ch 5 really deserve this to flop now , due to their extremely bad judgement of putting all these godawful ' reality' no marks in.

Too many of the reality HMs with scripts, the showmance is cringeworthy, nothing about the show is natural any more, it's become too trashy. I fast-forwarded most of tonight's show.

It's like a CBB version of BB12, BB15, and BB16.

Terrible series, it's bad when I'm supporting James who's about as visible as Ricky, Sam, and Katie.

The only reason I'm still watching is because I hate bloody sport!

Really fed up with charmless hooligan Bear, his nasty sidekick, Lewis, slapper Marnie and vacuous, clown-faced jizz bucket, Chloe.

The more it runs, the worse it gets. Where's Sam? Ricky? Edited out. For example, in the brief clips I've seen of Rickie with Katie I've noticed they've become very close friends, but I suppose because there's zero chance of any sex the producers have totally ignored this relationship.

The old formula, put in genuine celebs and let us get to know what they're really like and watch it develop organically has been killed by a pathetic production team that puts in mainly nonentities to save money and only wants to air arguments, bullying, and sex.

What's worse is I don't see any way back, now or with future series.

I'm in agreement with so much of what is being said here, and am so disappointed in what is happening to BB.

The editing, and the focus on just a few characters who are so, so fake, is appalling, as is the decision to give those who were nominated the reward of issuing killer nominations. Why? That gives a clear indication of where the producers want this series to go, as it is ensuring that the least popular housemates within the house- the fake ones- stay in, and we just get more of what we've already seen.

I can't believe that they have made that decision.

Why come on here asking if anyone else feels like switching off, if it doesn't float your boat and you would rather watch the likes of Ricky, Sam, Katie and Frankie then you know were the remote is, you know where the off button is.

Mind the door doesn't catch your rear as you flounce out!!!

In any walk of life there is somoene like Bear, a wind up merchant, an irritant and a lot of the time people provide an excuse for them " Oh, it's only Bear" like he's an exception and that he has to be treat special and normal rules don't apply to him- he's an eccentric, to be given some slack.

It's fascinating -imho-to watch how people are dealing with it ( not very well at the moment)

Just like everyone else the OP is entitled to their opinion. many feel the same as OP does no harm in asking right?

In regards to 'he's an eccentric, to be given some slack' that IMHO is horse**** he is a prick he should be given the BOOT and that's my opinion of it.. why cut any more slack when clearly he has bullied intimidated and wormed his way round the HMs for his own amusement? for someone that has made HM's lives hell and viewers switch off? This is NOT his show... I want to see other things happen besides him getting to bounce round the screen like some petulant child who just got their own way!

In real life noone has him on speed-dial and the rest will avoid him like the plague...

I caught a program the night before last 20 greatest CBB moments, you always have these characters in.

Louis Spence
Gary Bussey
Denise Walsh and the Twins
Jim Davison
Frenchie

Some people just have more about them than others and a lot of it down to jealousy, Bear is wired to planet Bear and is probably like that on the outside, he just has more energy, more electrical connections that make his brain tick all of the time.

Some feel threatened by it, Aubrey, Saira, Ricky, Sam etc others are indifferent and the rest embrace it. Lewis, Chloe, Marnie even HD who at least understands it.

You also have the jealousy factor, the dull ones don't understand it, yes he's acting up at bit and pressing buttons but genuinely he's wired differently and ticks differently they feel threatened and upset that they are stars but are being shown up by his antics- in other words they have met a bigger and larger than life character and they don't know how to react other than to try and control and to try and adapt this person's behaviour so it doesn't steal their limelight, if only then can get him to tone down, change , be more like us BORING - then we may get a bit of camera time and attention.

Believe it or not, forum members are allowed to do that! And if people are disappointed in the show we are here to discuss, they are entitled to express that. If they are beginning to feel they are tempted to switch off, they are allowed to express that WITHOUT being subjected to belittling comments.

I've never given up on a series of Big Brother before, I stuck it out with BB12 and more importantly CBB15 which had the same feel as this series, but I'm very close to just sacking it in, it's obvious what the producers are trying to do, they're edging their bets and trying to milk their cash cows as much as they can, it's tedious to watch and I'm not enjoying it whatsoever, the only sliver of hope is seeing people stand up to the gang that are ruining the show, but idk if that's enough to keep me hooked, especially if one of them goes on Friday.

exactly one of my fave moments in about 2 weeks will be HMs taking the piss out of Chloe & bear when they were doing the massage (if thats what you would call it lol) other than that I have missed episodes turned off episodes.. just unbearable sometimes.. :clap1::clap1::clap1: The quality of some of the HM's on THIS particular CBB, is definitely sub-par, but it it also must be borne in mind, that the editors of the show are also becoming more totalitarian, and increasingly, we are only seeing what they want us a see.

As a result, if some of us do not enjoy what we are seeing, then it is the producers fault, but we have every right to express our dissatisfaction at what we perceive as a degeneration in quality of what was, once one of our favourite programmes.

In addition, the OP stated: "Anyone else FEEL like switching off', which conveys frustration at the said perceived descent in quality, but does NOT mean that the OP poster is switching off.

:clap1: Absolutely! Great post!

trust me when I say NOONE is jealous of Bear I am 500% sure 99.9% of that house just want him gone... and making excuses for his behaviour 'as it is a tv show' doesn't make him a nice person.. far from it... what you see as entertaining I see as a person I would avoid like the plague as would many many many people.. outside this tv show

I would rather boring down to earth funny over OMG Im a grown man 26 who prefers to act my shoe size just so I can get attention.. pfft..

Being mean / Deceitful / Inconsiderate / Rude / Spiteful / Thoughtless / Manic / Argumentative / and so much worse doesn't make him a good HM..the greatest HM of all time Brian Dowling did not have to resort to anything like how Bear behaves to be crowned winner... so why should we reward some 2-bit nobody who think he is god's gift for being a dickhead to everyone around him?

Another brilliant post, Sue. Well said! :clap1:

oooh yes... live feed ahh the good old days :) where I would loose days & weeks just watching them sleep.. @night just incase i missed anything..lol
that was always the best for catching up on HM's bitching about each other :D

I truly truly miss live feed.. it makes the show.. without that all we have are badly edited selective 1 hour show moments :(

I agree completely thats how this show feels for me too.. like a spin-off of one of those god awful shows...its no longer the BB I know and love

This is exactly the problem, and it is so sad to see BB becoming that. It's only loyalty to a show I have loved for years that is keeping me watching.

Exactly. Another great post :clap2:

They'll never bring back live feed, sadly, they like being able to forge a narrative.

I was one of the lucky few who caught the BB5 fight night from start to finish, live, lay in my bed watching my little 15" CRT telly :joker:. They missed almost all of it in the live show, and I've never seen full footage of it emerge anywhere! It went on for HOURS and was so much more intense than they made out on the main show... I have no idea how it went on for so long, aired live, uncensored before they sent in security :joker:... Awesome night's telly, completely spontaneous. You won't get that again.

Of course Bear is wired different! He's a sociopath! He clearly has no empathy for others. He has no conscience. If you ever meet one in real life, you'll know they're not that fun in the long run. Even if you're in their "gang", believe me, sociopaths who don't care can be really dreadful to people. I knew one when I was young, and she ended up shooting a friend of mine, which finally landed her in jail. The things I found about later just blew my mind!

I'm also basically making it background noise, while I browse the internet. If it sounds interesting, I might glance at it, but frankly, I can't stand the reality show stars. I can see maybe the x factor girls, as at least they are known for having some talent, but the others, yuck! I mean, that's not the kind of show I usually watch, and if CBB is going to turn into that kind of show, man, like, what a turnoff. They did this before with that dreadful Perez guy, and that Spencer, too. I mean, maybe CBB should consider leaving out the real nutters?

I've never turned off during a series in my life but considered it during BB12.

And here I am again, contemplating switching this off. Why should I bother when I'm not enjoying it? There's other things I could invest my time in.

It's only going to get worse.

Fell like they should rename it WH.RE TV

I remember it so clearly. It was still rolling when a load of security guys came in and started dragging them away, then for a few minutes it showed the garden from above but you could still hear the audio feed. Then the whole thing just cut off :joker:. I'm a sure I hit record (on my trusty VHS, of course) before I went to sleep because I was worried I'd miss something if the feed came back.
