Only foreign place I went with the school was France  We stayed in Ribemont and went to Paris and Ypres. It was fun, but the year I left they offered other foreign trips like to Barcelona and China. I so totally missed out.

Sophii3x
27-02-2007, 05:43 AM
My school sucks! We never have foreign trips. But I did go to Italy 3 years ago (when I was in year 8). It took us two boring days on a coach to get there! We went through Wales, England, France, Swizerland and then Italy. We went to Venice (Went on a gondila and shopped), Verona (to see Romeo & Juliet's balcony, Juliet's tomb and some old arena), a themepark (I hate rides, so I just went on the kiddie rides) and these two islands. I was really depressed at the time. I was really homesick and I cried every night :(.

Anyway... Laura and Ash, is our trip to France still on?

It was ok. I was just depressed all through it!
It was a week long, and 4 days were wasted on traveling:mad:
But it was cool going on the gondila boat and on R&J's balcony

MarkWaldorf
27-02-2007, 02:50 PM
Were R&J real then? What was it like?

Sophii3x
27-02-2007, 02:58 PM
I'm really not sure if they are real or not...But I think they are:bigsmile:
We went to Juliet's tomb aswell, where she was burried.

Umm.. it's hard to explain what the place was like, but I have pics so I'll scan them for you. I'll have to ask my dad to connect the scanner with the computer when he gets back from work. But in the balcony area all over the walls there are love messages from people and pictures, and there's a Juliet statue and you have to touch her boob for good luck of something :|

MarkWaldorf
27-02-2007, 02:59 PM

Lmao, that seems so cool. I'm watching Romeo and Juliet in English so I'm really interested with it all right now. You're luckyy.

27-02-2007, 03:03 PM
hehe.. Lucky me:bigsmile:

You in year 10?
I did R&J work in year 10, and watched the old video. It was boring so we watched the modern one.

MarkWaldorf
27-02-2007, 03:05 PM
Yeah, I'm year 10.

We've watched both versions, but they're surprisingly good. Didn't think they'd interest me.

I'm in a strop now cause I want to go and see the tomb and balcony. Is her body still there?

Yea. We saw the concrete cofin that her body is in. It was pretty creepy because it was really dark down there. Loads of tourist write notes on the walls and stuff and messages on post-its. Really surreal.

I think Shakespeare based it on these lovers he knew, and renamed them Romeo and Juliet. I don't know all the history. If you ever go to Verona there are loads of tourists, and watch out for sales men.. they try to make you but crap. One of my classmates got punched in the face and mugged.

William Shakespeare wasn't the original writer of R&J. Some Italian dude did it in the 1500's and Shakespeare just copied him.
The story is based on real lovers in the 1300's that one of the original writers knew about.

OMG Romeo and Juliet!

I knew Shakespeare based his play on something an Italian writer wrote, but Shakespeare's talent lies in his amazing writing, directing etc. - not coming up with the original plots.

I did it in Year 9 you see, and we watched the films and everything and I found it dead emotional.

I never knew they were real!!! Based on REAL people!!! OMG!!!
