I tried really hard to think of a way of rewording this title but I couldn't come up with anything else satisfactory.
When you eat out, like in restaurants/pubs/bars or whatever do you usually order only a main course, or do you often have starters/desserts? Or does it depend on who's paying? And if there's a set menu for a certain price does it encourage you to have more than one course? Kinda making this thread for personal curiosity reasons.
I rarely ever have a starter or dessert tbh. I have also been known to order a starter/dessert only. I bet I get judged for that. :worry:

I never really have a starter, only when we go to the local Italian and they do deep fried brie with a fruity sauce.
I normally will just get a side with the main, chips/garlic bread for example. Others members in my family normally have starters.
I always like to have a desert though, pub (Harvester/Toby Carvery) deserts are normally great,
I use to really like hot puddings, like sticky toffee pudding and chocolate fudge brownie etc, however I'm more into sundae's/cake now.
If there's set menu then I might be more encouraged, but I cant recall going to many places that do (more on the children menu I think), I think the local Italian does a set menu with like a starter/main/dessert.
I find eating out quite awkward, I'm one of those who likes to eat on their own as I've had experiences with chocking in the past and it was really embarrassing.

I'm usually a garlic type of start. So garlic balls or garlic bread with cheese  or soup if it's decent
Main meals are usually meaty, either curry's or burgers or toad in the whole sort of stuff
Then if we go for desert then I'll get one of those sharing sundae's but I won't share :)

I only have a main and a dessert (if the other person is ordering it)

Usually have a main and a dessert. Occasionally I'll have a starter instead of having a dessert, I'd feel far too greedy and fat to ever order all three only because how bad food usually is for you when eating out.
On holiday I only order a main though, I never have a big appetite on holiday.

Usually get whatever everyone else is getting (not their actual choices, just if they want a starter or whatever), most times people seem to want to not bother with dessert so I'll just get the first two.

I like eating out but try to avoid fish when I do... :hee:
I only really have starters at weddings, if I'm having two courses I'd much rather take the dessert. Whether I do or not depends on a combination of how hungry I am, how tempting the menu is, whether I feel like treating myself and if I'm paying or not.
I'd say 50% of the time I only have the main, and the other half I have a dessert too

Don't think I've ever had a starter, I usually only have a main, and a dessert if I feel like it after

Usually just the main, if I was choosing between starter and dessert though I'd choose starter

I love eating out but I usually just have a main as if I have a starter I am too full from that to enjoy the main.

I think I would only get 3 courses if I went to those posh places where they give you like a crumb or two and call ha a meal.
occassionally desert X
That's a lot of sand x

Depends on how hungry I am but I'd rather have a main and a dessert than a starter and a main

I usually order just a main course and sometimes a dessert as well. I rarely order a starter.

I always want a starter but i know if i do i won't be able to eat much of the main - so i just have main , I never have desert .
it very much depends on the restaurant. If its a restaurant that basically serves up a bucket load for the main, then I will just get a main, but it usually means that its not a very good restaurant.
If its a proper restaurant then the menu is balanced across the courses as an experience and should be enjoyed that way.
