This school dinner thing is really annoying me

Whats your views on the healthy eating in your schools

I hate Jamie Oliver. He makes out that hes doing it for the kids, but hes doing it all for himself. While I'm having an unsatisfying lunch at school, hes shelling out buying a new pony and new diamond shoes!!!

I have school dinners on a Friday and I used to like having a satisfying lunch of MY choice, now I have to have what that fat tw*t wants.

He supports healthy eating, yet I saw him on the cover of a magazine recently as one of the 'fat stars'.

What food do you get in school?

Its not bad food, but its not a complete lunch. Theres no nice snacks. Its just a 'main course'. No nice drinks, its all overpriced crud!

Yeah I was going to say, he's put on a lot of weight himself.

I think for us teens especially we know what we want and can make our own decisions, thanks. They should have a range and variety of foods instead. At our school though they've gotten rid of chocolate and crisps and stuff, but sell chocolate brownies and chocolate caramel shortbread slices etc. that are absolutely MASSIVE. So it defeats the point really. We get pizzas and cheese on toasts at break, and all that. So basically despite getting rid of stuff, it's not made an awful lot of difference.

I'm rubbish when it comes to food - I eat junk and unhealthy food ALL the time, I'm going to end up obese!

Yay you've been reading Heat!

I don't really know about the healty eating thing as it ain't properly over here. I bring packed lunch and around 25 of us eat in the sport lockers. The food in the cantine is healty but nice like panniis and pasta bake and baked potatoes and theres chips once a week. Alsio they took chocolate away once but we complained all signed a petition and we got it all back! We get soup/biscuits/cake free at break because boarders get it so we do too.

Oh right, I think they're just trying to 'train' youngsters not to end up like us high schoolers now.

I hate Jamie Oliver's GUTS (and there are a lot of those to hate, the hypocrite!), and that's considering that hate is a very strong word. He is absolute scum and vermin.

He is a hypocrite who milks the whole healthy eating thing to make money for himself. Did I mention he is absolute scum and vermin?

You're all personally attacking Jamie and that's wrong. I agree with his campaign and thinks it’s admirable for a celebrity to dedicate so much to time to a non-profitable project.

I like what he's trying to achieve as it highlights a number of political issues. In addition, I note that nothing is being done when he's not involved, but that's a different subject.

I like some of the comments on here lol - "have been hit the worst" is my favourite.

I think that the message is that adults are responsible for ensuring that their kids have a healthy balanced diet to stop them from having long term health problems and ending up over weight. If they introduce this at an early age then the chances of reducing problems is high.

Jamie Oliver has in my opinion done a great job of increasing awareness and pressure to ensure that kids eat well
