A day earlier Mr Vaz texted one of the escorts to say a payment would be made ahead of a further meeting.

[He wrote: “I will send you £100 as a gift from me because you need some money.”
When asked to make it £150, the MP replied: “OK but next time you and [the other man] see me you better be extra nice. What is name and banking details.”]

[The money was paid the following day. And on August 23, the day before the second payment was made, Mr Vaz texted one of the escorts saying: “£150 for you, me, bf and Romanian.”]

Yes, no doubt he had to resign from that committee, I am not bothered as to his rent boy activities but the fact he is a married man so that makes him look really bad.
What his family must feel now is more sad as to this.

As arista said, there is a probable conflict of interests as to the committee he was on,it seems some MPs will never learn that anything like this will be found out eventually.

Silly man.

They could have made his conflict of interest apparent by just stating he's been with rent boys and showing him with them, that would have been more than enough, but the way in which they've released all the details about it, like how much, where to, how it was done, the vulgarity of it all didn't need to be sent to press, yes he should have to resign from his post, of course he should, but to put stuff into the press that is only going to hurt his wife and his family is imo, uncalled for.

I agree but I'm not holding my breath on that one that he will.

However, It may well be that he does not get selected for the seat again, isn't Leicester one of the possible targets as to changes from the boundary commission, if those changes are voted for in Parliament.

I keep hearing people repeat that he has done nothing illegal. Well, that's a matter for conjecture as no one knows the whole story so it's impossible to say categorically whether or not what happened was legal or not. However, he is an MP and therefore has a moral obligation not be be a sleaze. It's not the fact that the prostitutes he used were male, there are openly gay MPs, no one has a problem with that. But people do have a problem with the fact that while he was entertaining the rent boys he was married. What's more, he was entertaining them in his London flat, paid for in its entirety by the tax payer.

He has no option but to step down from the Home Affairs Select Committee, his place there was untenable.

I think he should too.

Also in Leicester I am sure changes are coming if the proposed boundary changes go through, not necessarily as to less seats for the 3 there held by Labour.
However changes as to bringing in wards from the outlying areas of Leicestershire, are likely to make some or all of the seats really marginal in the future.

So Labour need to look at this and not have a candidate who is going to be pursued with these incidents surrounding his personal life most of the time..
