I aim to get drunk usually if I am drinking. However, I tend to know my limits...probably stop before most people would class me as 'drunk'..more extremely tipsy. have only been legless once and it was when I was working in greece...stupidly I forgot that the amount of alcohol they give in each drink is insane and drank as much as I would have done at home. I remember not very much except I accepted a ride back on a quad at 4am off a random guy :S

Occasionally will have a blue wkd or a few just because i like the taste of it though

I will be honest though and say the only reason I stop is because I am ****ing terrified of being sick. If I didn't have that phobia I expect I would get in some right messes

I've gotten drunk before but the fallout was so terrible (medical wise: burning flaring seering pain) that I never did it again... it was on St. Patty's Day and I spent all the day at a tavern with husband and friends.

I rarely drink though. I take general medications and my liver takes a hit on blood tests that I take Milk Thistle to offset and I'm a light health nut. I'm more of a social drinker if I do... I drink with friends and family who I trust. Never around people I barely know. Occasionally if I want to sit outside with a sandwich and paint with oils, I may have a strawberry daquiri or something, but that is the extent of it...

I'm short and petite so it's very easy for me to get drunk.

I know for a factoid that it is not experienced the same byn one and all. Some people it makes them dizzy and dicombobulated and so they tend to avoid it where as others it gives them a tremendous feeling of exhilaration and bonhomie so they chase it. Some cannot stop when they start and others can have 2 and stop every time.

I have never been drunk myself, I've only been barely tipsy. I drink probably three times a month in summer and usually it's just one or two glasses each time. I made this thread because the other day I had a lemon beer with a meal and I really enjoyed it as a refreshing drink to compliment the food rather than just a novelty taste of alcohol if that makes sense. It made me think more about other people's drinking habits.

yes but being drunk is very different for each person. For a young girl it could just be half a bottle of wine, giggly and having fun, tripping over. or it could mean, getting so bad you cant speak and have a blackout and not remember getting home or eating and getting into bed

There are huge degrees within that one term

Sometimes just have the odd beer/cider/pimms in the summer because it's nice/refreshing.

But I will drink at parties to get somewhere between tipsy and drunk because I find I'm more open and less caring about being shy/polite. I've only ever blacked out twice and one of those occasions was because my drink was spiked, the other was when I was fifteen.

Can't really find your limit without getting to that state once or twice in your life though so life lessons and all that...

Crimson Dynamo
07-09-2016, 06:04 PM
what tends to happen to those who drink to excess is that the best part of drinking is after two or 3 when you feel great, then you chase that feeling down and it does not come back and you start to shut down and by that stage you tend to swap that chase for a chase to oblivion

and then repeat

and then repeat

I've been drunk plenty of times especially when I was younger. Nowadays I like the tipsy feeling, I mainly drink wine with a meal or in front of the TV on a weekend, get a little tipsy and go to bed. I don't drink to get so drunk that I don't know what I'm doing, I don't like that feeling, I do drink to get a bit more than tipsy though.

I mostly drink on Saturday nights unless i'm out at a party or on holiday etc. Plus because I never drank at all for so long it doesn't take much at all to get me drunk.

I haven't been drinking long enough to know my limits yet, I will have a glass of rose if I'm out for food but other than that I drink to get drunk. I'm fine on malibu or disarrono but if I have quite expensive vodka I get smashed to the point I cry or have to get picked up by my mum because I can't stand up or I've vommed everywhere.

My worst experience was after having Wray and Nephews, it's a 60+ % rum and I had 3 shots of it and I thought I was dying, I had to be picked up by my mum at about 11 from town and I sat in the toilet for hours being sick on myself, I couldn't hold my head up I was so drunk my mum said I was vomiting while sleeping

I think I've got quite a European attitude to drink. I do drink, I've never been really drunk, I enjoy a few drinks with friends and like the feeling of being relaxed... I don't understand the concept of drinking until you can't stand up. I know some people drink loads before they go out... I don't see the point of drinking so much you don't know what you've done or how you're getting home.

I don't drink for ages and then nearly kill myself in the process when I do decide to drink so that's fun.

Worst sober night ever...I was at a party and ended up sat between my two older sisters both were steaming n talking the biggest lot of **** ever, one was crying because she had a ladder in her tights and the other one burned the sleeve of my new jacket....I realised then being around drunk people when sober yourself was horrific

From 16 - 21 I drank to get utterly obliterated, tbh. That's pretty much the University culture, though.

These days I don't drink often at all, probably 5 - 6 occasions a year, and on those occasions I'd say I drink to get "merrily drunk" but not utterly smashed. Drunk enough to find stupid things hilarious but not so drunk that I suffer badly for it the next day, basically. Other than on those social situations I don't drink even a drop, though, and I sort of make a rule of not drinking at home . Partly because I am all too aware that this country (this world?) has a very unhealthy alcohol dependence even at the small end of the scale ("needing a drink to relax") and partly, admittedly, because I have my own personal hangups due to my mother's liver melting.

...so anyway :joker: TL;DR I drink very occasionally to get drunk-ish, never drink just for the sake of it, but have "done my time" in the past as most people do when they're young.

Oh I will add to that though:

I firmly believe that you do NOT entirely know someone, until you have seen them drunk. Alcohol does not "change people", as much as some would love to believe it does, it represses inhibitions and slows the mind. If someone says something drunk, they would think it sober. If someone starts using their fists to smack around loved ones with a drink in them... then they have some serious darkness and violence in them all of the time. They are simply masking or hiding it, consciously or otherwise. Worth considering.

I intend to get a good drink in me tonight. A bottle of vino collapso and perhaps a whisky or two. Socially with the TL with food. I wont be drunk but i will be a little bevvied. Sometimes for a gentleman a couple of drinks can be beneficial where as too many can have the opposite affect. YOu have to get the balance right. :nono:

I sometimes go on sober nights out and at pre drinks I get "what are you drinking" "omg why not" from everyone and they all ask me more than like 10 that night because they end up forgetting they already asked lol. Also when you're the sober one you kind of have to deal with all the drama that comes a group of drunk 10yr olds lol

I haven't had alcohol in years and the one time I've been significantly drunk was when a friend secretly added to my drink because it's known that I'm the token lightweight among my friends. I'd usually limit myself because I never wanted to get to that ridiculous point where you're getting sick.

I'd be livid myself. What if you are medicated with something you can't mix together with alcohol??

I have good skin and complexion compared to others my age which I credit to not being a smoker (really bad for skin) and also not really being a drinker. My husband used to drink a lot of dark and nutty/bitter beers. Though he really doesn't drink anymore which surprises me. Him and his dad were taste testers. The tavern we went to had a big selection on tap, they used to give our plaque for trying every beer and trying each kind which took a long time and you got cheap draft from that point if you made it into the club. When we moved back to my hometown, he started buying Texas beer to try and I notice now he drinks lighter beers... what happened to my burly manly beer man?... allegedly ruined by his Corona loving boyfriends pssh :fist:

I can't stomach beer at all, though when I have had a lot of alcohol already I find Guinness tolerable. It's also one of the most fattening beers I heard (which might be why I find it tastes nice )

I'm a big fan of vodka Cosmopolitans and margaritas with some tequila. It has to be good vodka though...

This one girl I knew got drunk most days of the week in HS and barely slept because she was out all night at clubs and was a chain smoker. She did hold down a job but spent 4 years as a senior and she finally thought "maybe I have a problem". You could see really see it in her skin. I think she looked my age now.
