View Full Version : Trump closes gap from 7.9% to 2.8% in 4 weeks...

Since the glamour of the democratic convention has now disappeared , hillarys lead has almost disappeared too, down 5.1% in 4 weeks...without the magical oratory skills of the obamas and bill clinton , jillary cuts a pretty uninspiring figure ....Trump is mocked and for good reason, but hes far better tv and hes getting much bigger crowds too...This could go down to the wire

His statement on Putin will not go down well I doubt so expect normal service being resumed.
Anyway, it is the big States he will have to be winning and Hillary is doing good in them.
Even in Texas, the Dallas Morning News, has come out in support for her and that is the first time this publication has endorsed a Democrat since the 1940s.

This is a dark time for America as both candidates seem to be hated, and whoever does win this election will clearly be a one term President as America will throw out their own Tony Blair/David Cameron I'm sure.

Its not down to a popular vote though is it? People are near-certain that Clinton will win because of their constituency-like rules? Right? I dont keep up with American politics much but I don't think the country is anywhere close to doomed yet is it?

That statement wont make much difference....he just said hes a strong leader with big approval ratings....when you look at syria and lybia , you cant help but wonder if clinton had a clue what she was doing. she took great amusement when ghadaffis broken body was ridden around town, leaving behind another leaderless vacuum with no post leader planning....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmIRYvJQeHM ...what a psycho

That cannot be said the truth, if the Daily Mirror in the UK came out for the Conservatives that would be unbelievable.
This publication has not backed a democrat for the White House since 1944 I believe.
Of course it would and will be significant.

You are right, it is the electoral college votes and the big States who in the main decide this in numbers from them.
It could well be a candidate could actually be leading the popular vote yet not get the numbers needed from the electoral college votes.
Hillary Clinton should easily and for me hopefully have some of the biggest States, namely California as an example of one.
This is a dark time for America as both candidates seem to be hated, and whoever does win this election will clearly be a one term President as America will throw out their own Tony Blair/David Cameron I'm sure.
Blair won three elections, Cameron won two, and neither were voted out of their office so not sure I see the comparison there

ok youre not offended by that and no I dont think the fact more men get raped totally wipes out trumps brash statement.....the ratio of women getting raped is much higher than men, but men total more as there are more men
either way its a disgusting crime and the rapists need to rot in hell
i dont know much about army life, maybe more should be done to protect soldiers against these dangers, how seperate the female and male soldiers should be kept is another moot point, clearly you cant look to reduce female soldiers because of the risk of men raping them....but its an issue that must be dealt with. once again though this will not hurt him in the polls because his supporters see it as him daring to discuss matters than are banned from discussing by the hard line political correct activists

His comments are over the top ,though maybe they do hold some water....rape incidents have increased since the number of female soldiers increased. the real question is whether the poltically correct people want to simply mock trump for his heavy handed approach to the discussion or do they want to actually address this serious issue and work out a way where the threat of this crime can be reduced...either way twitter is never the best place to discuss these matters. trying to sum up a complex matter with 140 character tweets nearly always ends up in farce

People need to start taking seriously the very real possibility that Trump is going to win this election. And here's an excellent column by Michael Moore which explains why:

GiRTh
09-09-2016, 09:14 PM
Shocked but not totally surprised the race has tightened, they always do, but that its still a close contest. As Leon said its shows how poor a candidate HRC is that she cant pull away from this clown. Dont care if anyone if offended by calling him a clown, look at his recent interviews; he clearly doesnt know what he's talking about but hes very good at driving the interview and not letting the interviewer probe him on substance. HRC has finally decided to do a Presser, after months of dodging, but when she did it was dependant on so many rules set by her team. . She has a very low approval rating but seems to think the establishment, Dems and GOP, not the public will get her elected.
Gary Johnson embarrassed him self the other day by asking 'Whats Aleppo' and Jill Stein has her own problem. This is easily the worst bunch of candidates ever in the history of American presidential elections.
HRC probably needs to deal with her image issues head on but doubtful she will do that and thus the race looks like its still going to be close going into October and November. If HRC loses she only has herself to blame. She should have beaten this bunch of clowns by now.

From your link, this is going to be a real problem too I think. It's probably part of why he's such a media sensation... so many people hate this current culture and political atmosphere so much that they're so willing to just set off a little TNT so we can tear it all down and start over... using our own system against ourselves
5. The Jesse Ventura Effect. Finally, do not discount the electorate’s ability to be mischievous or underestimate how any millions fancy themselves as closet anarchists once they draw the curtain and are all alone in the voting booth. It’s one of the few places left in society where there are no security cameras, no listening devices, no spouses, no kids, no boss, no cops, there’s not even a friggin’ time limit. You can take as long as you need in there and no one can make you do anything. You can push the button and vote a straight party line, or you can write in Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. There are no rules. And because of that, and the anger that so many have toward a broken political system, millions are going to vote for Trump not because they agree with him, not because they like his bigotry or ego, but just because they can. Just because it will upset the apple cart and make mommy and daddy mad. And in the same way like when you’re standing on the edge of Niagara Falls and your mind wonders for a moment what would that feel like to go over that thing, a lot of people are going to love being in the position of puppetmaster and plunking down for Trump just to see what that might look like. Remember back in the ‘90s when the people of Minnesota elected a professional wrestler as their governor? They didn’t do this because they’re stupid or thought that Jesse Ventura was some sort of statesman or political intellectual. They did so just because they could. Minnesota is one of the smartest states in the country. It is also filled with people who have a dark sense of humor — and voting for Ventura was their version of a good practical joke on a sick political system. This is going to happen again with Trump.

..I think not just because someone else had it Dezzy but also because he was pretty much laughed at, as a serious contender as well...like Simon's 'joke act' in the X-Factor, type thing...maybe his team want this but I don't get the impression that he does but more get an impression of, well what now..?../I could actually win this and become President and then what..?..that's the really worrying thing as well, that it's all been some kind of point proving for him because his biggest weakness is not being taken seriously/being the 'joke act' candidate...

That isnt true though, Trump could get 70% of the vote and still lose
Its the person to get 270 electoral votes, not the person with the most country-wide votes. Clintons looking likely to get 290-300 and Trumps to get 240-250.
There are ~154 clearly Republican places and ~229 clearly democratic places, so Clinton just needs 41 of the 155 undecided votes

I'm personally worried about after the election, Trump has the Alt Right eating out of his hands and has said that Hillary and the Dems are rigging the election.
