I think this song is so much more true to her regular live singing voice than most of her other songs and her live performances were what first made me love her. This is her style, it's 100% Gaga and she made it for herself more than anyone, that's the vibe I get. It just sounds raw. I really like it. :love:

yeah it's a grower. she's being far more true to herself vocals-wise, I personally love how raw she sounds. I really like the route she's gone down, I wouldn't have known she'd worked with Ronson on it though (whereas I can hear Parker's influence).

I don't get how people can judge her voice so much, in this song we hear her genuine voice, she's had this voice all along, she's not putting on an accent or making herself sound different to suit the theme of the song. Yeah I kind of got that impression too when I listened to it, it's not her typical lead single, and even down to her style and the way she's dressing right now which has always been a big part of who she is as an artist seems to be much more 'normal' and relaxed... and natural. And people are saying the vocals sound odd but they only sound different because they're untreated, and again, natural (unlike most of her peers). So it seems much more like she's just doing something that she wants to do, rather than try and do something that'll please everyone's expectations (which is what she's probably had to do her whole career so far).

Her Fame/Fame Monster era was my favourite (never really liked much she did after that) but for that era alone she's kinda iconic to me, so yeah this doesn't really compare to Paparazzi etc.
But I still like the fact that it's something a bit different, and more raw/natural sounding, regardless of me going off the song itself I appreciate that she's gone in this direction.
I consider Gaga to be more of an 'artist' than any of her peers and I respect that she could quite easily produce a Paparazzi clone or something else that would be a guaranteed hit, but has shunned that in favour of following a sound that she wants to produce instead of just doing what people will expect or what would sell the most, so I think she deserves credit for that.
Maybe not commercially, but artistically at least. There's so much bland that gets released for the sake of sounding relevant and I don't think she's ever really done that, so that means there's going to be times when she does something that the public don't latch onto en masse. That in itself doesn't mean she's 'over' though. There's nothing to say her next song/era won't be huge, she's definitely got the talent to make that happen when/if she wants to imo.

Lady Gaga really is old news, I don't think she'll ever recover with having two flop albums in a row now. Yes her album will sell highly in the first week [Like most previous big pop artists], but it'll have no longevity once their hardcore fans buy, meaning no new fans. Seems like only Taylor Swift and Beyonce are able to maintain longevity from the main pop girls [possibly Rihanna based on her next solo single, but thats not looking so great]
