Britain is "too lazy and too fat" with businessmen preferring "golf on a Friday afternoon" to trying to boost the country's prosperity, Liam Fox has said.

The international trade secretary's remarks, at a Conservative Way Forward event, were recorded by the Times.

Downing Street said he was clearly expressing private views.

Richard Reed, Innocent Drinks co-founder, said Mr Fox "had never done a day's business in his life".

What he means is that the govt. would prefer British people to have a "Chinese style" work-work-work-then-die attitude, than valuing things like individuality, leisure time, and social interaction. They want us to live to work, rather than work to live.

Theresa May has made an error putting this has been in to the position she has, some of her judgements as Minister appointments are really very bad.

What is amazing to me is Downing street say, these are his private views,if these are really his own views, what on earth is he being trusted by a Prime Minister as to being Trade Secretary in the first place.

Especially at this difficult and complex time.
