People use this phrase a lot
What is the first thing you think off when you hear it?

Or, being really really young and careless.

Year 7-9 when I basically had no worries.

no bills or responsibilities. Good music, good films, attaching what you would like for yourself to characters from those films you cherish, dreams of a wonderful future and looking forward to it, friends and being careless together.
Present-bills, responsibilities, health, fantasies grinded to dust as they will never happen as you imagined it, war, racism, nasty people, sexism, prejudice :(

Life changes all the time, good and bad all along he journey.
The good old days to me would be having my dear dad and other loved ones still in my life.
I suppose the good old days are whatever gave us the best memories in years gone by.

1996-2005 really. When I was at school and college and had no worries and didn't have any illnesses.

Not so old days as I am just 24 now but for me the years I had with my Grandmother who was a strong guiding light in my life all through childhood, as much as my Parents were too.
So I would choose any period where she was in my life.
However to expand this a little if I may, reading about recent times past, for me I often wish I had lived in the 1960s.
The whole decade seemed to be about change and fun too,the music too, I love the music of the 1960s, it must have been great to watch so much talent and really great singers, proper singers.

The good old days to me are from the 1960's to the 1980's. The music was the best it's ever been. Fashions ditto (the 80's are NOT included in this)
Women behaved more like ladies and consequently men behaved more like gentlemen.
Ice cream tasted better then. Letters were written with pen and paper and the world seemed to move at a much slower and more relaxed pace.

THIS ^
The older I become, the more appealing even the 'bad times' seem in retrospect, because I was younger and those 'bad times' - as you so rightly say my dear Ammi - WERE surrounded by 'good bits'.

Was lucky enough to grow up down a quiet road with friends that lived down here surrounded by fields and woodlands so any time pre secondary school when technology was pretty **** and we spent every day outside making our own entertainment without any care. So up until 2004/2005, they were the days
the whole thing is one litany of misery
Too true

The late 90's for me.
Being in junior school (loved it!), Summer nights on the park with literally the whole village kids playing rounders, tag etc. Just everyone getting along, having a laugh. Knowing that when the street lights turned on you needed to get your ass home!
Going to the corner shop and getting a "50p mixture" and coming out with a huge bag of sweets. Pokémon cards! Everyone being hooked on WWF wrestling and having playfight matches on the schoolyard (until it got banned because someone sprained an ankle!!)
Good music, video games (everyone loving PS1!), movies... no stresses just fun.

Junior school when the most exciting thing in your life was a kid falling over in the playground and cutting his leg and going home and talking about it as though you just witnessed a murder. Along with all the rumours like "Did you see his knee cap hanging off????? The bone was poking out of his LEG!!!!" :flutter:

So true!! A slight cut would be "there was blood EVERYWHERE!!!" hahah
Speaking of injuries, another thing I miss is health and safety being much more relaxed in a weird way!
Our park became basically derelict and the roundabout was just the steel bars without the wood on it. We used to go as fast as we could on it just standing on the thin steel bars... if we fell off we would have snapped our legs without a doubt! We didn't think about that :hehe::hehe:

Terrible! A bit of bruising never hurt anyone!
I remember the thick soggy bark chips we used to have on some parks, that stuff would splinter into you like crazy!

Oh yeah baby. Back when I used to love reading mills and boons as I waited for the radio to play the song I was waiting for so I could finish my mixtapes. I loved the struggle.:joker:
