A NEW war of words broke out yesterday between Jade Goody and Shilpa Shetty.

Jade — in India on a charm offensive — said she turned down an invitation to Shilpa’s home in Mumbai.

But the Bollywood beauty hit back saying Jade was never asked.

Jade, 25, has been in Delhi trying to calm the race row she sparked by abusing Shilpa, 31, on TV’s Celebrity Big Brother in January.

She told reporters: “I’ve been informed Shilpa has invited me but unfortunately I have commitments with charities. If the offer is still open in the near future I’d like to see her.”

But Shilpa’s spokesman in India made it clear that Jade was not invited. Dale Bhagwagar said: “Shilpa is not interested to be ‘used’ as a PR tool to Jade Goody. It’s obvious she’s here for media mileage.”

Jade emerged from a visit to an orphanage yesterday sporting a red “tikka” on her forehead — a Hindu sign of welcome.

But her visit continues to flop. Indian MP Amer Singh said: “Everyone knows she’s shedding crocodile tears.”

And journalist Amit Sharma spoke for many in the India media, saying: “We see it as one big damage limitation exercise. Many here have been infuriated by it.” Jade is due to fly home today.

Alas, I don't think it will work and I'll be mortified if it does. I want her to work a little harder than this to regain the respect she had. At the moment she's doing as little as possible. OK there's Paris Hilton but she's probably more popular in this country than in the USA. I recall Dennis Rodman was baffled at how 'celebrities' in this country can become so without any discernible talent.

Charles Manson - hardly a celebrity, but going on a kill crazy rampage will definitely get headlines.

I am also in the similar position. I find Jade goody an interesting person and funny and quirky too. There is something about her that I like and people do buy into her.

Especially "Fitness Video's" & "Perfume".


She was in extreme demand before January and this is fact.

Things went horrible wrong this January and I can't see that it was'nt that bad, compared to other Big Brother shows.

And having said that, there is nothing wrong if certain sects of the media say that Shilpa is better at being British than British folks themselves, that says something, that the UK is missing cultral discipline.

The BB winner was blasted for starring in a comedy sketch that echoes the style of the Black And White Minstrel Show, axed in Britain in the 1978 amid a storm of protest.

She is seen laughing and joking as a TV presenter cavorts around with a blacked-up face and an Afro wig.

It will stun millions of fans who backed her in the Celebrity Big Brother house as Shilpa, 31, suffered racist bullying from Jade Goody, 25.

Model Danielle Lloyd, 23, and former S Club 7 singer Jo O’Meara, 27, were slammed for joining in with Jade’s jibes.

Black social commentator Jaye Williamson fumed: “Maybe Shetty is the racist – mocking Africans on her TV show? The outrage should be that people dare to cry racism on Shilpa’s behalf when she had the audacity to take part in a show that mocked Africans.

“Why should we as black people sympathise with Shilpa Shetty’s plight, when she hails from a country where 160million people are regarded as Untouchables, or Dalits, due to no other factor than the darkness of their skin.”

The columnist for www.blackbritain.co.uk said it was disgraceful to see Shilpa and a TV presenter laughing at an Indian actor “blacked up” and wearing a fuzzy wig.

The Black And White Minstrel Show, which featured white singers and dancers “blacked up”, ran in Britain from 1958 to 1978.

Campaigners petitioned for it to be taken off the air, claiming it was deeply offensive.

Eroll Walters, director of the Black Londoner’s Forum, said: “It’s crude, and it’s crass. We are not against satire or humour but these ideas are completely out of date. It is offensive, and black people will be outraged. It is taking the mickey out of black people and it’s very insulting.”

The offensive clip is on an Indian TV show called Extra Shetty. Shilpa was appearing on the etc music channel alongside goofy hosts Abid and Suresh Menon.

Celebrity Big Brother fan David Harrison, 29, from Bristol, an IT consultant, said last night: “I backed her to the hilt because she seemed to represent everything that stood up to racism and outdated ideas.

“But to see her laughing in this tasteless sketch undermines all that. She should hang her head in shame.”

One industry insider said: “It’s fair to say she wouldn’t be such a household name if it was not for the race row in the BB House.

“So for her to be seen larking around on this show while a presenter is dressed up like this is in pretty poor taste.”

A spokesman for Asian network Zee TV, which runs etc music, was not available for comment last night.

Shilpa’s publicist Max Clifford, 63, scoffed at the outrage and said: “The Daily Star must be desperate to print this kind of rubbish.”

And it emerged yesterday Shilpa had her work visa for the UK renewed with help from Labour MP Keith Vaz.

It means she can cash in on TV and newspaper deals. Her visa expired just after the Channel 4 reality show ended two weeks ago.

But he was quoting from an article somewhere. Either a newspaper or something.

I agree that this comment is unjust. It also causes Race-Hate. Shilpa & Jade should be equal when it comes to articles and comments like that.

I have no problems with "Shilpa Shetty" and I intend to defend Jade Goody and also her behavior in whatever situation.

Shilpa doesn't want all of this! But it did happen.

I haven't listened to what she's said in the magazines because I don’t buy tabloid magazines. Thus, your message will always be missed by me.

Jade talks of safety but according to the authorities there are not reports of any incidents involving her safety.

First, I have no idea what you're on about in the first few paragraphs of your post. The lottery analogy is lost on me. I don't need to be told this is not a lottery I'm, believe or not, well aware of that fact.

You say you';re defending Jade's situation. She has an army of people to do that are you a part of that army.

Jade says she's not racist, you concur but do you see why many people are saying she's racist? Allegation of racism stick for years and I'd advise Jade to repair her reputation slowly through acts of philanthropy within her community, but jade and the people pulling the strings seem to disagree. They want a quick fix and many of the public seem to be buying into it. Everything she's done since leaving the house had been for publicity and for her to appear like a victim.

The second half of your post is either insider information that you need to share or its cloud cuckoo land again. Seriously, in many posts you appear to be in the know. First, I have no idea what you're on about in the first few paragraphs of your post. The lottery analogy is lost on me. I don't need to be told this is not a lottery I'm, believe or not, well aware of that fact.

You say you';re defending Jade's situation. She has an army of people to do that are you a part of that army.

Jade says she's not racist, you concur but do you see why many people are saying she's racist? Allegation of racism stick for years and I'd advise Jade to repair her reputation slowly through acts of philanthropy within her community, but jade and the people pulling the strings seem to disagree. They want a quick fix and many of the public seem to be buying into it. Everything she's done since leaving the house had been for publicity and for her to appear like a victim.

The second half of your post is either insider information that you need to share or its cloud cuckoo land again. Seriously, in many posts you appear to be in the know. If you are then you need to share this information, if you're not in the know or you're not prepared to divulge then you need to stop these insinuations. I said that first part about the Lottery and many gullable people taking their money out of their pockets and spending it on something which is very unlikely ever to happen.

I am not talking about £10 either.

The comparison to this and Jade Goody, is,

Jade went on three reality shows, may have played to the camera, acting like an argumentative and ignorant person

But people make judgements of her on that point.

Her whole life doesn't revolve around this and this is for certain.

People have become as gullable as lottery players. They have mostly turned round and said that she is a racist bully and the worst person imaginable.

Everything else you say, is, just going round in circles and I think that this subject is difficult to debate, as there are masses of Jade Haters and almost none Jade supporters.

Do we really need comments on every Jade topic on the site.

We understand you are a great supporter of Jade but this is causing bad feeling. You are doing more to harm Jade by your posts than you are in helping her. It's all going round in circles. The people you are trying to convince are just hating her more.
