I personally would be tempted to assume that most of the "don't know or refuse" %age is in fact gay, so the number is probably higher for how many are actually gay, vs how many are openly gay.

This doesn't mean that 1 in 30 people are gay. The stats are actually really positive and encouraging and show a shift to young people better accepting themselves and their sexuality. The stand out one for me is the increase in people who identify as bi which has almost doubled in the last 4 years. The number that identify as gay has dropped 0.1% percent in that time but that's not surprising considering the increase in the bi bracket is approx 8 times that figure. So it shows that many more young people are comfortable being identified as 'lgbt' and don't feel as boxed in to say they are gay when in fact they are bi (and all of that is ignoring the people who didn't answer/don't know/identify as 'other').

It's important I think to not read stats like the headline and assume that the number of gay people that exist has changed dramatically. There's a huge difference between how many gay people there are, and how many gay people are open about (and fully understand) their sexuality when they're young. The changes in stats like this aren't a reflection of the number of gay people increasing/decreasing, it's a reflection of changing attitudes.

Yes, finally someone said it! It's terrible that straight people are victimised by this cruel world. So many kids are cast out by their families when they come out as straight. I know of several cases where this is not true...I wouldn't say it's 50/50 yet....but I personally hear of more and more recent custody battles ending up with the father.

Not true. Custody *usually* goes to whichever parent is the main carergiver unless there is a good reason for that not to be the case (he has a dick doesn't count)

Just so happens more women stay home with the kids while men work to support the family. Might have something to do0 with men tending to earn more..or child rearing being seen as a 'womans job'

It may be better over your side of the world, it's certainly very much in favour of mothers here. Fathers rights is certainly an area that needs updating
