The Finnish singer says she's been singled out by some of the show's viewers

SHE’S been bravely battling to keep her place on this year’s X Factor, but Finnish singer Saara Aalto has revealed she’s been “abused for being foreign”.

The wannabe star says she’s been singled out by some of the ITV show‘s viewers for being the only foreign act to make the live shows, which some believe is the result of “Brexit Britain”.

Saara told The Daily Star: “I hoped people would forget where I’m from. The competition is about singing and good performers.

“I hoped people would take me as I am. It doesn’t matter where I come from.”

She added: “There were people saying ‘why is she coming here?’. The thing is, Finland is such a small country.

“It only has a population of five million, which is half of London. There’s nothing there. I just had to get out. The UK is the perfect place to come.”

Saara has already faced being in the sing-off twice and this weekend took to the stage to perform Girls Aloud’s hit Sound of the Underground.

One viewer wrote on Twitter: “I hope y’all know Saara will still be bottom 3, even after a stunning performance. #Brexit Britain for you”

Another added: "True, #Brexit Britain. They're not voting for you because you're foreign. Saara is the best singer in the competition. #xfactor"

Saara, who commented that "my dream has always been to sing in Britain," added: "It is hard being the only foreign act.

"When I came here I moved to London and I was meeting so many new people and had to speak only in English which is not my native language.

"I don’t have the support of my hometown like all of the other acts have. I’ve had to build my fan base."

:joker: Did they forget she was Finnish when she was voted through last week  interviews like that will do her no favours

Not when she's been saved in the weeks she's been good (Bad Romance etc). She wasn't Bottom 3 material last week though but it wasn't her best at all

All of her fellow acts are also racist for not clapping her and I will continue to spam this in every X factor forum to get the point across everyone in the X factor is unlikable besides her

Yeah, because previous series were full to the brim with foreign acts. :umm2:

She has a great voice but she's just not likeable enough for me to want her to stay. It's not xenophobia, she just doesn't seem completely genuine. Didn't kitty get the same reaction? Wasn't she English?

YES. I was wondering who she reminded me of. Its undeniable she has a cracking voice, but she comes across so unlikeable and sometimes quite arrogant. Exactly like Kitty.

Is a convenience how you have such an issue with the foreign act.

No. It doesn't prove difficult for you to hate on the foreigner, I knew what I meant :fan:

I am pointing out the irony in her claiming people are hating on her as a foreigner when she is dissing her own country

Pointing out she has better career prospects in the UK is hardly hating or being xenophobic (if that's even possible) towards her own country.

That my friend is hating on your country of birth, its factually incorrect and insulting to 5 million people

If you say so hon. I can see you're more interested in painting the victim out to be a villian rather than being concerned with the abuse she is getting so it's not really worth the time discussing!

If you fail to see the irony then i would agree

Saara should have stayed in Finland and prepared a song for UMK 2017! She is wasted there.

Well I'll be unpopular but nothing new, lol,I don't like her much, nothing to do with where she comes from,I'm not keen on her voice and she just seems too desperate,I woud rather have someone like Emily who seems far more natural and likable.

How is it hateful to move from a small country to try and fulfil your dream of becoming a singer?

Finland is tiny of course she has a better chance of getting into the music business in a country like the UK
