We spend £670 million on them a year:shocked:

Do you take them based on marketing claims alone and if you do how do you judge if they are "working"?

We have loads in the medicine cabinet. I think the only person who actually takes them once a day is my mam.

Nope, although I should really get some vitD.
Take B12 as prescribed by doc...hoping to put off having yet another regular jab.
Hubby takes all sorts, has done for years, fit as a lop, swims 3 times a week and cycles a couple of times a week, average 60 miles or a little 30 mile jaunt.

I have an aversion to pills/tablets/capsules, like you I even avoid taking pills for headaches preferring to lie down 'til it goes off when I get one.

No, I never take vitamin pills either.

No. Never have. Never needed to.

My family always say if you were "healthy" you wouldn't need to take supplements, which I agree with. Maybe if somebody needs to rely on them then they should have a bit of a lifestyle change perhaps idk.

As Sheldon Cooper says, the majority of them are just the ingredients for very expensive urine.

Yes i take vitamin D as i had such a bad deficiency i probably need to take them forever - they do work as i have blood tests and my levels stay good whilst i take it . I also take acidophilus which keeps your gut healthy - i have an ongoing problem for which i take prescription meds , i also take a course of milk thistle which comes from the silybum plant about twice a year , its the only natural plant on the planet that can help repair your liver - and it works !:

I take one aspirin, one multi vitamin with iron, one vitamin C, one garlic pearl and one Omega Fish oil capsule EVERY day.

My cholestrol level plummeted after just 2 months when I first started taking them, and the doctor agres that it is the supplements which I take which are responsible.

I have always eaten sensibly, and stopped 'abusing' my body when I passed 30 - at the same time as I removed the gold sleepers from my ears - But I am 'knocking on' now, and I believe in my supplements, and attribute to them in part, the fact that I do not look my age, feel my age, or even 'think' my age.

If at certain times, my body does not require any of the extra vitamins and minerals I take, then there is no harm done, but they are there when it does, and the cost is minimal in comparison to the cost of an alcoholic drink or a line of Charlie, which some people partake of daily.

Each to his own, I suppose.

I went through a phase last year of taking cod liver oil tablets because I heard they make your eyelashes grow but I forgot them after a few weeks and eventually threw em away
