Power just provides the opportunity to be corrupt, I don't think it's something that makes people corrupt. It's down to the nature of the person.
Corrupt people would probably be attracted to power, but then so might non-corrupt people. So there's no absolutes either way imo.

There is no good and evil. Only power and those too weak to seek it.

Good and evil do exist (at least in text form). If anyone is uncertain of their existence then please do not take my word for it but simply check out the dictionary as both words are in there and clearly explained.
..I agree with Withano in that I don't think good or evil apply in terms of people as such...if a stranger purposefully took my child's life for instance, I would have only experienced their evil so may consider them evil but then their mother/parent...?...may have only experienced their good...their are people who do evil things and their are people who do good things but everyone is capable of both and everyone will be something different to different people...a brutal serial killer for instance could be that good person who lives next door and is always offering to help and just very lovely...
...no though, I don't think that power corrupts as such but I guess that the power can give more opportunities for corruption so make it more possible if it's part of a personality and leaning...power also can enable more to oppose corruption as well in giving more control so basically all in an individual personality..power I think does play a part though in the enabling of etc...

I think if someone is corruptable then power will corrupt them. Those that seek power are corrupt, In my opinion it takes an exceptional person not to abuse absolute power.

I think power can corrupt.
Once you have uncontrolled power that is, the temptation to settle scores or set out to make things great for you personally may possibly be too tempting to overlook.
think the vast majority of people go into politics for the right reasons and want to make things better for others by being fair and just.
However the trappings of power make for the opposite to be done.
A recent example of that being the last coalition government we had, the Lib Dems were overall a really caring and just party.
In govt; one of their first aims was to ensure the fixed term parliament bill got put in place which would ensure come what may, they had a full 5 years of shared power.
Then what followed on was their support for some of the worst and most heartless moves against the most vulnerable in the UK.
They supported such policies and many other dubious and wrong ones, such as the re-organisation of the NHS too.
For a few miserable Ministerial positions and that 5 years of shared govt.
So I do believe once given power it can corrupt, the bigger problem comes too when already corrupt individuals may find themselves eventually in power.
The answer to it is much harder to find however, in my view.

Lord Acton ACTUALLY said: "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

I agree Joey - and numerous of the most brutally corrupt Dictators throughout history WERE seemingly decent men who did a lot of good works BEFORE succumbing to the evil afforded to them by their positions.
