To say that Republicans aren't, in the most part, homophobic when the vice president-elect favours taking money from HIV prevention and spending it on conversion therapy instead is a ****ing joke tbh
But hey, he can hold a flag (the wrong way around)... woo yay daddy #Gays4Trump

Fun fact: sick bastard Obama was against gay marriage in 2008 when he was elected
Fun fact: sick bastard Obama was against gay marriage in 2008 when he was elected
Fun fact: part of Trump's campaign was him strongly criticising, and suggesting that he would overturn via the appointment of homophobic Supreme Court judges, the Obergefell vs. Hodges ruling

It's actions that matter, not words.
Any positive words he has for the LGBT cause are empty when he chose Pence as his VP.
Obama might have voted against Gay Marriage at one point but what's important is that it was his administration that legalised it.

He is black so he can be forgiven anything :hee:

Yes, so much so that the flag is upside down and he'd talked far more about oppressing LGBT people and their rights in his campaign than defending them at that point

Why bring his race into it? How suspect...
Like I said before, complaining about him voting against it originally is pointless when it was his administration that ultimately legalised it.

Not watched this video but I assume that it's him saying "I love the LGBT community!! They're great!!" to try and snatch a few votes.
Here are the FACTS
He wants to appoint a judge that will cancel gay marriage.
He wants to abolish Obama's laws against gay discrimination.
His Vice-President is an extreme homophobe who believes in electrocuting gays until they become straight, a practice that has caused many people to kill themselves.
Let's not pretend that Donald Trump is some gay icon hunni. He's not. Just accept that he's trash

trump did the right thing in forcing the republican party to confront their stance on issues like gay rights, he is starting to break the partys taboo attitude to it,like today, you have openly gay republicans speaking on the platform, even 20 years ago that was not possible, and the legalize of gay marriage, is the last part of the dice for the party to sort out, and you have to understand that trump as president, represents all groups, and he can't just give one group a special treatment card, and pence is not being appointed to bash gays, he is being appointed in something that is unrelated to gay issues, do you think trump is dumb, with 2020 in the line, you have to understand that the media will stir the pot, just to make him look like he is a dictator,

The media doesn't need to do anything to make Trump look like a moron, he manages that all by himself. It would be blatant bias by the media if they tried to present him in a positive light by cutting out all the negatives since there is no real upside to the prospect of his presidency.
He'll protect us from a hateful foreign ideology...?

Yeah, it could be said that he's using gay people to push an anti foreigner agenda imo. It's all just how you look at it I suppose. Personally I don't trust most of the things politicians say during campaigns or take them on face value because everything they are saying has been scripted and designed specifically to try and win votes, and his campaign does seem to have ridden on a wave of anti-foreign sentiment somewhat. Before anyone starts I'm not trying to call out racism but I think it's clear that however it's justified, whether it's simply worrying about immigration issues, and rights/wrongs aside, there is a growing fear among a great deal of people of the foreign person and the impact they're having on 'us'. And the direction of his speech being 'we'll protect the gays from the foreigners' seems pretty clear. And it's actually really clever because the republicans know they have a harder time getting the gay vote, so by positioning it in that way, in almost a threatening 'you need our protection' kind of way, in highlighting a 'common enemy', in making gay people feel accepted where they didn't before (because of people like Pence, ironically) it's just yeah, very clever. Because really, and what a lot of gay people need to realise is, that people like Trump or anyone else shouldn't be praised for not being homophobic. It should be a given. We should expect him to stand up for gay rights because that's our society now, not be surprised and in awe that he's willing to do so, and how generous it is of him. In the position of President it's his duty to stand up for gay citizens, him doing so isn't going out of his way or going beyond what's expected. So him making a point of it, it's likely that it comes with an agenda, and people should consider what that agenda is. And in the context of this speech, I think it's likely that his agenda was his immigration policies. Basically you've been used, gays.
Obama clearly regretted voting to oppose gay marriage because he did so much for the gay community when he was in power. I doubt Trump will be doing the same with a raging homophobe as his right hand man.
Note: Tinashe endorsed the gays before it was popular and so she should be President.

Obama never voted to oppose gay marriage. He was for it in the 90s.

Well i think that whatever anyone thinks his motives are.The fact is that he just got a load of Republicans cheering for and supporting the gays. That can't be a bad thing. He's making the effort if nothing else.I think no matter what anyone thinks of Trump. He is going to be president and if he does something positive it's just as important to recognise that as to recognise anything negative he might do.

Great post. Great points.
Trump has started as he means to go on, and it is ALL good so far. He may yet surprise some people and turn out to be a GOOD President.
