These people watched too much Forever young.
Nice idea but what is she going to wake up to? Robots? Empty earth? Will they even be able to revive her? If they succeed will she even last a a week? Why would you want to come back when loved ones are gone and humans will just be more vile?
Other than that, you can't play God. If its your time, it's your time.

I think that if your life is over at 14 and the money is available then whatever gives you comfort should be exactly what happens.

Oh I didn't read the bit about her being terminally ill. Poor girl, I hope it works out for her someday, you never know

I guess I agree though hard to see it ever being possible, surely she'd have needed to be frozen before her death
The problem is as soon as she's unfrozen all her cells will burst :worry:

Currently, yes, but the theory would be that they'd unfreeze her when a cure has been discovered and also the "unfreezing" tech.
Chances of her ever being revived are extremely low but, I guess, going to sleep knowing that there's a possibility that it's not forever could be less scary than knowing you're about to die?

They should have lied to her and said yes that you will be dont worry, this would have made her impending death easier (as was happened) but saved their money from this total racket for the gullible. I agree with Hulk that this is just a ponzi scheme and a nasty cynical one too.

even if they did find a way to bring her back to life, and even if they did find a cure to the cancer that killed her, wouldn't it already have done permanent damage to her by now? so, they'd be reviving a painful diseased body? :worry: and i don't want to know the psychological trauma that randomly waking up in a fridge in 300 years time would do to you.
£40,000 doesn't seem like a lot to keep ur body in a big fridge indefinitely either but if it gave the girl some peace before she died then i guess that's the main thing
...to face a terminal illness at any age and for anyone is awful but for a child../heart-breakingly sad...I'm glad the judge's ruling was for her wishes and something that must have meant so much to her that she devoted so much time to it in her last months... as a 14yr old, there is so much that she would have been unable to make her own decisions about in life and certainly her illness took all control away anyway of her life continuing.../I'm glad that she had that control in her death and what she wanted for it../her body.....amazing grandparents and all of the fundraising they did for it and all of those who helped in this thing she wanted so much.....

No Ammi its a SCAM
...your title is inaccurate Arista, she wasn't 'rich' at all..maybe rich in the sense that she had such love and support in her life and with fundraising for this but she wasn't wealthy, nor her family...

I totally agree. Heartbreaking, but her wishes were paramount. It gave her death some meaning and likely helped her cope.

How can anyone take money from a dead girl for a a scam like this is quite disgusting. The family have wasted their money.
Even if in the future such a resurrection of cells was possible the electric impulses that kept her memories and personality alive in her brain have dissipated all that could feasibly be "brought back" was a living zombie. This si what a scientist was saying on the tv and he was a doctor and a surgeon?

I think it would be pretty cool to come back and see all the changes the world has made. Plus you would obviously make new friends etc

Lie to your dying child? That's awful, I couldn't do that

If it saves you 40 odd thousand pounds and has the exact same effect then do it, you are living, she is not.
..her family didn't pay for what it cost, the cost was raised through fundraising that her grandparents did specifically for it so it wouldn't really have existed as an entire amount as such in the way it did if it hadn't been for people wanting her to have what she wished for in her death and being happy to be part of it.../.. amazing grandparents and there are some amazing people in the world....

I think it would have been more amazing if they had told her the truth and not got people to waste money on this scam.
..if it was felt it was a 'waste' then I'm sure it wouldn't have been supported with contributions and help and the fundraising wouldn't have been achieved but it was achieved so it was obviously not felt a waste to be able to do this one thing for her in her death...

and I think as a parent in such an horrific time you must feel so helpless in protecting your child, anything at all you could do for your child to give them some sort of comfort and hope you would move mountains to achieve

If a dying child gets to close their eyes for the final time feeling hope and optimism rather than fear, then it's not a "waste" at all. Isn't that what the promise of "heaven" is all about? But some of us don't have the luxury of being able to believe in that, so if she can find hope in something realistic - no matter how low the odds of success - that's worth something.

Exactly. There's some things that are a whole lot more important than money
and I think as a parent in such an horrific time you must feel so helpless in protecting your child, anything at all you could do for your child to give them some sort of comfort and hope you would move mountains to achieve
...yeah I don't think that it has anything to do with what they personally believed in../her family just that it's what she believed and it was doable to give her that one thing..(with fundraising and people happy to contribute..)..so it was done...and if it is a scam and nothing more then so be it...let that be the conscience of those people who are scamming because her family have given her the one thing she wanted and spent her last months thinking about so much...the one thing in their power to be able to give her...
...she may even be unfrozen.....

They could maybe add robotic parts to the body and make a cyborg. If they can kickstart the brain again then it'd be awesome

But, again, that's animating a dead girl's corpse. Not bringing that same girl back to life.

by then
we have set up base on that 2nd Earth Planet
(takes us 30 years to get to it, nowdays)
after killing all the owners of the 2nd Earth planet
its now Our New Planet
By then Time Travel will be faster
for Humans and Computer gear and Weapons
all Under National Funding
Now that firm that may
have you frozen - if still going
will not have the funding
to fly any out there, sadly.
