Cheese bakes are lovely and usually quite cheap. My favourite cheese bake is to layer very thin slices of potato, cheese and onion in a casserole dish, ending with cheese, pour over whisked eggs with top of the milk or thin cream , salt and pepper and bake for about 1 hour in a fairly hot oven.
