9 days of mourning!

Pity the UK Honours List wasn't just published - we could have had 9 days mourning and 9 days knights too to discuss. :hee:

Terrible ruler with some off Morals, but a great revolutionary and liberator. With most leaders, you take the terrible with the good. When most of the world was turning a blind eye towards the the likes of Mandela, Malcolm, Kwame, Angola or Palestine, he was right there. He did a lot for Africa and Black history, may his legacy for them continue.

He kicked the Mafia out of Cuba, got rid of a corrupt dictator in Batista, was indirectly responsible for the assassinations of JFK and his brother Robert, and without him, there would not have been all those Che Guevara T shirts and other stuff. :hee:

It's a difficult one. He was somebody who was responsible for some sweeping positive changes throughout South America but it's undeniable that he's also responsible for some terrible things as well.

All I'll say is that he was a complicated figure but a vitally important one for the 20th century.
