Two of this year's X Factor 2016 finalists are said to be in a 'secret gay romance'.


It's been claimed that the pair's fling has been kept top secret from most people, with even the judges unaware.

The Daily Star newspaper reports that the couple first met at bootcamp before getting together when the live shows started.

"Their families and friends know they are an item but they've kept it a secret from viewers and that's the way they want it for now," a source said.

They added: "Their fans have no idea they are a couple. Both get a lot of tweets from girls but they aren't interested.

"They are flattered by the attention but they are smitten with one another."

And the insider claimed: "It's so secret even the judges don't know about the romance. Not even Louis Walsh and he is the biggest gossip on the show."

It's the latest report of romance about this year's finalists with rumours having now pretty much covered every contestant dating each other.

Speaking to Reveal magazine this week, Matt denied he had been getting close to any of the other contestants on this year's show following rumours about him and Gifty Louise.

"I think no matter who I talk to, I have a romance with them. Gifty and I were such good friends, really close, but we're all close," he said.

There's also been claims that Sam Lavery was close to 5 After Midnight's Jordan.

Then of course we had Emily Middlemas and Ryan Lawrie's very much open relationship.

However the show has been accused of failing to acknowledge Saara Aalto's sexuality and her engagement to girlfriend Meri, with GayStarNews recently questioning why her partner has never appeared on the show.

A source told the website: "Saara is totally comfortable with her sexuality and has been very open about it in interviews and on social media but it isn’t a defining factor for her in The X Factor.

"As with any other contestant, Saara’s sexuality isn’t relevant to her performances which are the main focus in show."

At the end of the day, it is a singing show...

Yeah I don't think every act should be forced to publicly come out before they go on the show. Obviously it's frustrating that they're being told to play up the lie in their VTs and interviews, and does give off the impression that it's a dirty little secret rather than a major and acceptable part of their personality, but there's something dark about Twittergays wanting every gay celebrity to be exposed and out on their terms, rather than the celebrity's.

(Admittedly I am part of the problem, speculating from time to time "oh he might be gay, yeah he's definitely in the closet" etc)
