Would genuinely rather shred my ears off with a cheese grater than listen to a UB40 album

I've only ever heard of Red Red Wine (who hasn't) so I can't judge... not really my sort of music, though.

I like them but don't know them that well, just "the hits".

They're playing in my town next year but I can't justify going to see them only knowing a handful of songs tbh

Their name 'UB40' stands for Unemployment Benefit, Form 40. The band named themselves after the paper form issued by the UK government's Department of Employment for claiming the dole

Was forced to listen to a compilation on a drive home from work once and it's basically all the same song. Very boring band.

I've only ever heard of Red Red Wine (who hasn't) so I can't judge... not really my sort of music, though. And that's not even their song, it's a cover of the Neil Diamond song. Infact most of the hits they had were covers.

Far better UK bands of that era were The Specials and Madness.

Mystic Mock
07-03-2018, 10:31 AM
Now I don't like Madness, they feel like they tried too hard to give off a cheeky chappy Cockney vibe, it's not very authentic imo.

I loved Madness  I served Suggs when i worked in a pub in London one time

I used to drink with (next to not with, with) Suggs and the madness boys all the time at their local just off Camden High Street The Crown and Goose. They were often in their at a table on a Friday. This was the first pub on our famous "Camden 10" we would do for a new employee or a leaver. ie 10 pubs in Camden and a pint in each.

Ugh shut up :fist:

The pub I worked in was across the way from the LWT TV studios so the odd time a celeb would come in (no one amazing though unfortunately, Ant and Dec were probably the most famous)
