View Full Version : Matt Terry signs to RCA instead of Syco
Ross.

I’ve learned that bosses want RCA to look after Matt’s career in order to turn him into the next OLLY MURS, who is also signed to the label.
It’s an interesting move as it means SIMON COWELL will not directly guide his career at his label Syco, as he has done with former X Factor winners LITTLE MIX and JAMES ARTHUR.
A source revealed: “Simon and Sony have had a think and believe that Matt is very much an artist in the mould of Olly Murs.
“And to that end, they both believe he should be a label mate of Olly’s on RCA. Everyone is thrilled with Matt’s victory and how brilliantly the winner’s single is doing.
“It’s already been the iTunes No1 for well over 24 hours even though it only came out late on Sunday evening.
“When Christmas Comes Around is a fantastic song.
“It perfectly showcases Matt’s talent and also has a real shot at the Christmas No1 next week if momentum continues to build.”

Not them buying Matt a new personality :amazed: I don't think uptempo or something you can dance to will suit Matt so they have no chance with making him like Olly Murs.
Syco signed Saara today didn't they?
And she's going to be on a Clean Bandit summer smash :clap1:
RE Matt: They had a better shot making him another Sam Smith/Ed Sheeran/James Arthur but there's not really a gap in the market for him with Ed and Sam both probably releasing next year.

I'd love an album from Saara. I don't think it'd do very well here mind (although I think a collab with Clean Bandit could probably give her a Top 20 hit) and I see her future involving the West End.
It was obvious Simon wanted Saara to win anyway.

I think she can do well but depends on the promo etc and if they put her through the write direction and who she is working with. I would be here for her doing something with Clean Bandit, but if she flops i do think she will go west end and eurovision.

Saara wasn't my favourite in this series, but she should've won the final.
Matt is just a classic example of someone using vocal gimmicks to get to the victory post of a singing competition that's also suppose to be about who's Music you'd want to buy.

It's a complete joke of calling the show 'The X Factor' when immediately after winning they decide to try and mould them into someone that already exists instead of encouraging them as an artist in their own right/their own uniqueness & talent etc. And if he was already like Olly then it wouldn't matter which label he's on.

Her name was on the roster of Syco's artists for a while on wiki yesterday but it got removed together with Matt's name today. Only Honey G's name is there now. :bawling:

Comparing an up tempo pop artist with a serious ballad artist. How did they get to this equation?!

There is no gap whatsoever in the market for Matt. He isnt as good or unique as singer as Sam Smith or Ed Sheerin or many of the other chart topping solo male artists. Saara should do well, she has a very distinctive voice and a quirky personality. Matt will be one of the X factor flop winners and there have been QUITE A FEW

You're exactly right, I actually pity the winners because they're not really allowed to showcase what they really would like to sing because they get molded into some bland generic wannabe of another singer.

Saara for an Over female is also quite marketable compared to Sam Bailey, Mary Byrne etc.

Good news for Matt really. Syco (or Simon...) don't seem to put in any effort towards male signings like they do with female. I doubt Matt will be around too long sadly, but he has more of a chance the further away from Simon he gets :S
