Nicole Richie And Joel Madden Reportedly Engaged
"The Simple Life" star and the Good Charlotte frontman almost tied the knot in Las Vegas' on February 17, but decided to get Nicole's adoptive dad Lionel Richie's blessing first.

A source told National Enquirer magazine: "They picked out matching silver and diamond rings at a jewelry boutique in Caesar's Palace and then headed to the Little White Wedding Chapel where the hovered outside for ages. But Nicole wanted her dad's blessing so they went straight to see him when they got back to Los Angeles."

Joel was reportedly terrified about asking Lionel for his blessing.

The source added: "Joel was nervous but he was greeted with open arms and a big hug from Lionel, who thanked him for everything he has done for Nicole."

The couple are now planning to marry in front of their close family and friends at Mexico's Las Ventanas resort in Cabo San Lucas.

The source revealed: "It would be a small ceremony with under 100 people."

Oooh - isn't it lovely to see Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie looking so ecstatic to be in one another's company, after all the ups and downs of the past couple of years? The pair were photographed together on Friday, filming the 97th (or thereabouts) series of The Simple Life in Los Angeles. And just in case we were in any doubt about how much they're, like, totally over their recent feud, the pair even held hands. Cute!

The really great thing about this, of course, is that it now paves the way for Paris to be chief bridesmaid when Nicole marries her boyfriend, Good Charlotte singer Joel Madden. Mind you, it's just emerged that naughty Nic nearly tied the knot last month, during a Valentine's break in Las Vegas. Apparently, she and Joel bought matching rings at a boutique in Caesar's Palace then "hovered" outside the Little White Wedding Chapel for ages, before having second thoughts.



So why the change of mind? Well, apparently Nicole decided she couldn't get hitched without the blessing of her dad, Lionel Richie. Thankfully, Joel understood - and within hours, the loved-up pair were knocking on the front door of Lionel's Los Angeles mansion. "Hello?" said Lionel, as he hurried along the hallway. "Is it me you're looking for?" (Sorry.) Once Joel had made his intentions known, lovely Lionel reportedly responded with a big hug - and the scene is now set for a Mexican beach wedding later in the year. Hurrah!
