View Full Version : Did I drink too much or can I not handle it?
Weird thread, but I am asking for opinions from the drinker members of the TIBB community ;)
Now, when I got home from my New Years Party, I threw up. However, that was not all. From about 8 to 11.30 I drifted in and out of consciousness and spewed six times. I then got up, tried very slow to have some breakfast and then threw up again. I threw up again at 3.30.
This was undoubtedly the worse hangover I've ever had, but am I just bad at handling my drink or did I drink too much?... I had about 4/5 glasses of champagne, 3 beers, a vodka + irn bru, a shot of peach schnapps and two vodka shots...
So what do yall think?

Hmm, interesting. You didn't exactly have tons to drink but you did have a considerable amount. Probably not enough to make you sick so much, mind you (well obviously it was but anyway).
Maybe it was what you had to drink. Like have you had any of that stuff before? Maybe your stomach just didn't agree with it. Or, it might depend on how long you have been 'binge' drinking for, like if you have only recently started since you began uni then it might just be that you're not used to it and haven't found your limit yet idk.

Being sick is a sign that you poisoned yourself. It's not big or clever to drink more than your body can handle.

Totally depends on the circumstances of the day I think and each person can handle different amounts too. If you haven't eaten alot etc etc

All true. But if he ate little, I wouldnt have thought hed be physically able to throw up that many times. It just sounds more food-related than drink-related to me. Potentially an unrelated virus or bacterial bug.

Also I may be a lightweight, but what you put in your OP, I would be pretty legless, especially with mixing. I can drink near a full litre of malibu, but if I drink anything else, I am gone. Especially if I mix.

If you're a newbie or haven't had a drink for a while, it could just be the alcohol. If you usually drink like that and are fine then it could be EITHER that your stomach was already a bit off and not up to the task, or - as suggested by Withano - if you had anything to eat after you might be suffering from dodgy kebab syndrome. Many a bad hangover can be put down more to mild food poisoning from a bad snack on the way home. Urgh.
Also if you smoked a cigarette (and don't usually smoke) your hangover will be worse.
And finally, the advice about mixing is correct. Pick a lane and stay in it. Your options are beer, wine/cider, or spirits. Choose one! Your hangovers will be ten times worse if you don't. Also, drinking beer AFTER wine or spirits is never a good idea.
"Liquor after beer, never fear
Beer after liquor, never sicker"
Alternatively,
"Wine then beer, feel the fear
Beer then wine, you'll be fine."
Remember these important life lessons...
But best is just don't mix at all. I learned that far too late in life. I only drink Jack Daniels now and I can get absolutely hammered and barely feel it the next day, even though I almost never drink these days.

The drifting in and out of consciousness sounds strange.I used to drink 2-3 times that amount on a night out and that didn't usually happen.Maybe you were spiked?Or you're not used to mixing drinks like that.I've known a couple of people who would get absolutely battered on not very much from mixing drinks.

Don't mix drinks, especially that excessively.
Are you used to drinking that much? Do you usually drink all of those things? A number of factors could've led to this (although I agree with others that it seems a bit of an extreme reaction), but yeah, mixing drinks like that will almost always end badly.

Alcohol is one chemical substance but, unless you're drinking ethanol, drinks don't just contain alcohol.
Piling foamy beer onto a stomach full of vodka or wine will make you bloated and more likely to be sick. Sticking to purer alcohols will make you less likely to have a headache the following day. Them's just the facts.
Also drinking a litre of vodka with approx. 12 cans of red bull as mixer will **** your **** up for over a week. Protip.

Been there, done that.
Don't mix your drinks, and realise what your limits are. I don't think any hangover is worth the consumption of alcohol itself, and it's one reason for why I'm sober.

Cause snakebite is a mixture of cider and lager (well, it is at my uni - topped with blackcurrant juice to dilute it)
It gets me pretty drunk too. In fact, as far as I'm aware straight snakebites (without the top) are actually banned in a lot of places for that very reason. I remember when I came home from uni and went out a couple of years ago I asked if they did them in this bar, and the woman told me 'we don't, but I can give you a half pint of cider and lager and you can mix them together if you like, I'm just not allowed to do it for you'. No word of a lie, it's the only drink I had for the rest of the night it was that lethal :joker:

Also snakebite with black is diesel here. A few bars won't sell it for the same reason.

“Drinking is an emotional thing. It joggles you out of the standardism of everyday life, out of everything being the same. It yanks you out of your body and your mind and throws you against the wall. I have the feeling that drinking is a form of suicide where you're allowed to return to life and begin all over the next day. It's like killing yourself, and then you're reborn. I guess I've lived about ten or fifteen thousand lives now.”

i think the op could have drunk Rohypnol?
While Rohypnol has become widely known for its use as a date-rape drug, it is abused more frequently for other reasons. It is abused by high school students, college students, street gang members, rave party attendees, and heroin and cocaine abusers to produce profound intoxication, boost the high of heroin, and modulate the effects of cocaine.
Teenagers and young males age 13 to 30 have been noted as the primary abusers of Rohypnol. Rohypnol is usually consumed orally, and is often combined with alcohol. It may also be abused by crushing tablets and snorting the powder, or by dissolving prior to injection. Rohypnol abuse causes a number of adverse effects, including drowsiness, dizziness, loss of motor control, lack of coordination, slurred speech, confusion, and gastrointestinal disturbances, lasting 12 or more hours. Higher doses may produce respiratory depression.
