Cheryl Tweedy has stunned ITV chiefs by turning down an offer to appear on the next series of X Factor.

The Girls Aloud singer was approached to join the judging panel as a replacement for Louis Walsh, who has been axed as part of a major shake-up of the talent contest, but Tweedy thought that the job would be "too much pressure".

An ITV source told the News of the World: "Cheryl is totally bonkers. We don't know what planet she's on. Being the sexy female judge would have opened so many doors for her because Simon [Cowell] is the man with the Midas touch. There was even the possibility that she could do shows in the States using Simon's contacts."

DJ Chris Moyles, American Idol's Paul Abdul and former Spice Girl Mel B are amongst the names being rumoured to replace Walsh.

and...

X Factor winner Leona Lewis is being lined up as a judge for the show, according to a report today.

Producers apparently believe that hiring the 21-year-old singer to coach a new bunch of contestants would be a "brilliant twist".

Several names are currently being rumoured for the fourth series of the talent contest following the decision to axe Louis Walsh from the judging panel.

A source told the Daily Star: "There are a number of names in the frame to replace Louis, and Leona is one of them. There's been talk of getting in an American, like Jessica Simpson, but she's not so big over here.

"Leona's a much bigger name in the UK and to have her as a judge on the show she won in such style the year before is a real rags-to-riches story. She knows what it's like to appear in front of judges. Leona could add some insight into what makes these people tick. Executives felt it was time to inject some fresh, young blood - and she could be just perfect."

Louis Walsh is backing DJ Chris Moyles for X FactorAxed X Factor judge Louis Walsh is backing Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles as his replacement.

Walsh made a guest appearance on Moyles's breakfast show and told him: "I think you'd be a brilliant judge and I know Sharon likes you a lot.

"They should hire you - we should start a national petition to hire Chris Moyles for the X Factor. You'd be great for the show."

Walsh and presenter Kate Thornton are being replaced for the next series.

"I was axed from the X Factor, stabbed in the back, just pushed aside really," Walsh said.

"I'm absolutely gone and I didn't know I was getting the chop at all. I was in Stockholm in a hotel when I got the phone call."

And he blamed Simon Cowell for giving him the boot.

"It's his show, the buck stops with Simon. He hires and he fires - and then he hides behind the ITV people," said Walsh.

Moyles is 2/1 favourite with Ladbrokes to join the show.

It's ridiculous to even think Leona could cut it as a judge. What experience of managing acts does she have?

She's only had one successful single. She's not even an established singer.

All she has is the experience of The X Factor. She has no clue when it comes to managing and mentoring acts.

I'd rather she didnt, cos I want her to focus on releasing stuff.
But it could be good for giving advice. Maybe she could be a mentor not a judge.

(I had something like this planned for TiBB XF, how odd!)

I don't think Leona should be a judge. As yet, she's hardly the experienced chart-topper that they raved about. So far, she's only gone and done what both Steve Brookstein and Shayne did - have one massive hit and then disappear!

I haven't got an Internet source, but it was reported on my radio station that Mel C had been signed up as one of the judges, but that's still only a rumour.

I dont think Leona would be a good judge. She's to shy and quiet.

My prediction, Randy Jackson & Sinitta.

It seems pretty certain that Randy Jackson is going to do it.

I think you're right Dan, he's not even being secretive about it. I like him though, he's a livewire! :spin2:

I hope Sinitta isn't a judge, she's too 'up-herself', and how can she have any knowledge of modern-day music? She's as good as a one-hit-wonder Imo.
