Ex-Mental Patient To Be On The Apprentice!

TELLY hit The Apprentice was slammed last night for letting a vulnerable former mental health patient become a contestant.

Jadine Johnson, 27, has been cleared to compete in the reality series — where contenders battle for a £100,000-a-year job with tycoon Sir Alan Sugar.

Yet she was sectioned under the Mental Health Act four years ago.


The Apprentice kicks off tomorrow at 9pm, on BBC One, where we meet the new 16 candidates to fight the job for Sir Alan. Amongst the candidates is a housewife, a doctor, an ex-soldier, someone who turned down a job from MI5, someone who used to work for Kate Middleton, Prince William's girlfriend, and, as mentioned, an ex-mental patient.

Ex-mental patient? As well as them being vulnerable, I also think it gives them an unfair advantage to an extent. Oh well, we'll have to see. I'm guessing they've thought all this out.

I think it's no biggy. It's common knowledge that Alistair Campbell has suffered a nervous breakdown. I hope they do well.

A lot of people have mental health problems, and manage to get over them completely. Depression affects one in four people apparently (I think the figure may be even higher than that). There's no reason why this person should not be on the show.

That actually doesn't surprise me. She did give me an impression of insanity in last night's episode.

I didn't think some of Jadine's decisions were all that good in the first programme but can't see a reason for her not to be on the show.

You can be sectioned for all sorts of things. Self harm and depression [sometimes], being two where you are a danger to no-one but yourself

Think they'll have to have a softly softly approach though - just in case.

Presumably he's been seen by a psychiatrist,
you would hope the BBC would be a bit more careful than say - oh Endemol, in who they choose to put up on TV in the name of "entertainment"
