View Full Version : Are any brexiteers repenting?...

Ok.... it was funny for a while but seriously now, is it time to halt brexit?

I know it will be met with calls of 'democratic vote' and 'the people have spoken' but talk is cheap, healthcare isn't :/

Has anyone previously confident about brexit now not so?

Nope!!!

Tbh I was expecting this - and I thought it would likely be you. We are still leaving the EU try as you might to try and persuade people otherwise. The democratic vote is not cheap unlike the sentiments in this post.

I'm confused

The title is

Theresa May suggests UK health services could be part of US trade deal

...and inside the article it says...

A Number 10 spokesman said later: “The NHS will never be part of a trade deal and will always remain free at the point of delivery.”

Sounds like any excuse to scaremonger and try and convince us all what a waste of time Brexit is - coming from an anti-Brexit ire of course.

How someone has the nerve to talk about the importance of democracy in one breath then talk of ignoring a public vote that did not go their way in another is hypocritical, unproductive and manipulative.

Theres just no way that anybody believes Brexit has been mostly good so far. Unless they only read thhe Daily Mail, or are incredibly stubborn.

For me, however, I think its just got to the point where I will only exoect bad news until March. in March, anything can happen, maybe even something good. I'll go back to discussing it then, (with those who are discussing it appropriately now, the blindly devoted camp wont win much of my time, their viewpoint is meaningless).

It just appears to me to be risking too much, why is the NHS and the US even being discussed? I feel like we're being sounded out for something that may happen in the not too distant future... Once we brexit I feel that the UK as we have known it or as brexiters envision it will vanish and all that will be left will be a 0hr rat race, a billionaires tax haven, another nations nuclear dump and frack central, again for the benefit of other nations.

Thatcher was right there is no such thing as society just obedient, compliant wage slaves whose only function is to be a drone until they die and replaced by another drone.

If you don' like being an 'obedient, compliant wage slave' go into politics. As I believe you said yourself talk is cheap.

The UK as we know it was changing, that was the whole point of Brexit for many - Hugh dissatisfaction with what was happening to our country. Brexiters did do something - they put their money where their mouth is.

No regrets and there is no evidence that it is a bad thing, just constant scaremongering.

Interesting discussion in Pmqs about the other thing you are constantly scaremongering about workers rights. Where the PM put that idiot Corbyn straight. BBC article today too about new rights being considered for new and pregnant mother's. And guess what we don't need the EU to tell us what to do.

So far we are doing well. No one can guarantee the whole trip will be smooth but it will be worth it.

Speaking of the press I'd suggest believing everything you read in the independent is a touch dodgy also.

I still don't get how a very slim majority (most of the Brexiters being older generations) can dictate all of the terms to 48% of the country (which most of the Remainers being the younger generation) I know it's a very controversial statement that I'm making here but shouldn't there be some give and take in such a strong vote? Especially considering the younger generations will be living in a society that most of us didn't even ask for.

Some reports have us as the sixth best Economy in the world right now, before Brexit we was fifth.

Not to mention that our pound is at the same price as the US Dollar on some Apple products, it could just be teething problems, but we haven't even triggered article 50 yet and we're already falling backwards financially and as that's the most important thing to any country's survival, we are headed in a bad direction.

No one said anything about a great future being in the EU, just a stable one.

Speaking personally for myself, having the Tories having full control over this country terrifies me as I'm in the Working class spectrum and we all know how this party treats the working class and our Human Rights before the EU was how it is today, and even then it's still hard work for them to curb the Tories into following the basic Human Rights that the EU asks for us to follow.

Btw I'm not talking about the European Court of Human Rights as that's a seperate entity.

I think that alot of countries are using the EU as an excuse because the people don't want to blame their leaders for being incompetent on certain issues that people want fixed. And I also think that the leaders latch onto the EU being the big bad so that themselves don't get criticised over letting in too many Immigrants, being too soft on Law & Order, and not distributing enough money out evenly to the middle and working classes in these countries.

Having unelected EU beaurocrats having full control of this country for 40 years terrified me. Their treatment of Greece and other countries the EU project is bankrupting terrified me. Their lack of compromise and flexibility is particularly terrifying. Even more terrifying is the illusion that all our human rights and workers rights are so dependent on the EU that we will have none without it.

The lack of information and knowledge about the EU and the fact we've often led the way with regard the rights of our people EU or not amazes me from people who want it so desperately. Like another regular author on this forum you seem under illusion we had no rights before the EU and any we had were not good enough and were cancelled by the EU or that we had no part in making any of the rights that came from the EU.

Worrying about the Tories and human rights is paranoia. They are a government and can be held accountable. If you are afraid of a conservative government get involved in politics and try to help labour get their act together.

If you want something real to worry about, worry about the fact that human beings sleep rough in our cities every night in 2017 and every year previously whoever the government is.

Or a badge to keep threatening the UK with, nor a repeating process until you get the result you want. Someone needs to explain all this to Nicola, not the one in the BB house, the other one.

Unsure why anyone would be so embarrassed by the word remoaner they wouldn't want to share an opinion. Sounds very thin skinned if true. At best it's a little rude, it's certainly softer and a lot more comical than the insults heaped on those of us who wanted to leave. I've seen far worse implied on this forum. Yes a presumption you shouldn't believe everything you read in the press. Still not seeing how that is saying you only read one newspaper. Having a conversation in here is like being in the twilight zone sometimes.

Sure let's move on, pardon me for being picky about being misquoted.

Although I was undecided for a long time, I thought long and hard about my vote to leave and I don't regret it at all. If they repeated the referendum tomorrow I would vote the same.

I don't...which is why I took exception to the suggestion. But you're right let's move on.

A referendum is one question, not a badge of authority to shut down ALL further discussion of any related issue, much as some seem to wish was the case. The same people who think that using the word "remoaner" is a good tactic to "embarrass" people into not sharing their opinions. :idc:

They should'nt dish it out if they can't take it, you don't seem to object when it's the other way round - it's called bias.

Kizzy has been on TiBB far too long to genuinely have expected anyone to have changed their opinion :joker:. I don't think it has happened yet. On any subject. Ever.

Yes! How dare they have an opinion that doesn't match with yours! Only people who agree with you deserve an opinion! Everything else is a personal attack on you and is bias! Opposing opinions are a DISEASE.

Haven't you missed the point somewhat! If you can't handle opposing opinions to the point you lash out with snide comments such as 'bigot' and 'racist' you are hardly in a position to call others out on it when they respond in a similar vein - pot and kettle.

How do you know it's not representative of the U.K.? The visionaries had it last time! Sounds like a good dose of wishful thinking and blind delusion to me.

well a quick google shows there has been a slight shift already,

Finally, 23% of people want to cancel Brexit and remain in the EU after all. Nearly half of Remain voters (48%) are still holding out hope that the referendum result will be overturned, whilst 1% of Leave voters have changed their minds and want to stay.

Why would the result be overturned - where is the democracy in that? Such a deciision would completely undermine and invalidate future public votes. It would set a disastrous precedent.

Every future public vote would be challenged by sore losers. What will the public vote be reduced to - best of 3, 4, 5, 6 - need I go on!

Cancelling it would be an awful decision, people who make bad decisions need to live with the consequences. Leave voters need to realise the reality of their choice.

I didn't write the poll.... you queried if anyone in the UK had changed their mind on the issue, clearly some have.

None on this forum though obv .
