View Full Version : Viewers Make Allowances for the Good Looking Housemates

A lot of support goes to housemates because they're pretty or handsome, even though without surgery they wouldn't be so attractive.
Why do some people who love Callum accuse James of being dull and think he should go ? Because Callum is young and handsome.
Why did so many people blame Jamie for being with Bianca and got him booted out the show while meanwhile the one who's actually in a committed relationship and is by far worse because of it, sails through to the final ? Because she's pretty.
It is these type of superficially based votes that mess up the show every year.

Saying a pretty girl on CBB is sailing through on her looks is a turn up for the books, it's usually people saying they're evicted because they're pretty and all us girls are mad jealous

They make allowances for all types of housemates.

Not guilty. I found Calum more dull than James. And I don 't think Calum is goodlooking in the slightest. Not usually my style to say this on an open forum but he kind of looks like a mashup between a frog and a pitbull. The lack of chin is strange and just...no.
I actually think the goodlooking housemates tend to have to work harder for support from some..as so many will just say 'goodlooking/model - airhead' or whatever and write them off as boring whereas everyone else will be taken at face value and start off on an even footing

This is sadly the case for the entire world (psychologically / scientifically proven).

The only one I would have found attractive physically this year was Austin but his personality ruined his looks, I think you start seeing people as unattractive even if initially you found them attractive if it turns out they have an unattractive personality

Yeah it has actually been statistically proven. "Conventionally attractive" people are more likely to get a job on interview. Also people who are a "healthy weight" (both underweight and overweight less likely to get the job). It's also been found to be mostly a subconscious part of the decision making process... it's not even that people are consciously biased... it just skews and nudges things enough to be an observable effect.

Really? Certainly isn;t the case a lot of the time. Excluding me as I am a male and i never judge on looks, but even on Twitter who are all image obsessed were slating Calum for being a bore. He was not liked at all on social media.
If you see this happening everyday, you must be in school. Where I was growing up, no one ever experienced divides based on looks, i always think it's a US high school stereotype.

It's not an "all is forgiven if you're good looking" thing though, if you're enough of a bore / nasty enough then people will still pick up on it, but basically people are just slightly more likely to let little things slide if the person doing it is "generally attractive".

Some people, not most.
I don't care what someone looks like. And like i said on Twitter i expected it to happen, but it hasn't happened.

I like Calum and James ,I admit I find Calum very good looking ,but I like that he is also well mannered and cares about how people perceive him,we all know he has a playboy image but I don't think that actually makes him happy, I find his backstory interesting,I like James because he is Knowledgeable and also seems to have manners and I guess he'de be great to sit and chat to,I find they are both not nasty for the sake of it and both gentlemen. It's not about looks ,but if we are all honest that is what draws us to people, but someone can be a great looker but have a **** personality which immediately puts me off them,I actually don't get the hate for Calum on here,I don't see him as arrogant either,I think he is quite guarded if anything.
