View Full Version : peoples problem with jedward
i don't get it.
they have been a joy to behold, the only hm not to isolate kim shows maturity in my opinion. also they have shown great maturity in their opinions and views on the other hm. the perception that they show is undoubtedly the best in the house and they have me nodding away at the telly when they share them with us.
I think peoples problem with them lies in the fact that they don't see them as 25 yr olds, the reason for this i believe not to be their maturity levels but the fact that they don't look 25.
take the bathing and gstring episode where they were having a laugh, i read a few derogotary comments on here about how it looked..i doubt anything would have been said if it were a more muscular 25yr old doing the same thing.
i may be wrong though, but i don't think i am.

I'm not sure, obviously people have different tastes in HM's but I don't think they've done anything so bad to get quite the level of hate they sometimes get. I think they're a lot of fun and they're good people, and everyone's different and looks different but overall they have a lot of maturity (as well as a lot of immaturity... people can be both), but I don't see why their immature side is such a problem either.
Whatever the reason I don't get the pure vitriol they invoke from some people, I mean dislike them or don't find them funny whatever but seriously, they're pretty harmless
i have seen some really awful comments this season regarding jedward. Stuff that insinuates incest and abuse..disgusting in my opinion..something an internet troll would post on their twitter. it surprises me how other members can support and stick up for other members who post such vile and nasy stuff..but thats the internet i suppose.

A lot of it is people who started out with either a dislike or an indifference to Jedward but unlike the rest of us they cant admit they were wrong....or accept that the guys are more endearing these days then they are annoying.

It seems like a small number of people with a LOT to say to be honest, which is making it seem like there's more hate for them than there actually is.

They're hated because they're Jedward, it's ingrained in people's consciousness since X-Factor... That said, despite their "antics" being childish I've found them to be witty, sharp and probably the most mature of the housemates outside James C. It feels ridiculous to say that but they handle almost every situation with composure and a smile, never swear to get their point across and don't seem to hold grudges. I never liked them before CBB, I do now.

With regard the bathing, Jamie and Calum bathed together, I didn't find that much to look at either. I don't like all the tattoos, makes them look dirty.

In order to assess this problem we must first question whether or not if all the antics they get up to are naturally forming or are the choreographed. I think if it was the former they would be detained at her majesties pleasure in some mental health facility, so have to agree that the later is the case.
So if all they do is choreographed, this can be seen as some as staged, ergo fake. So if they are acting out fake scenarios, we must then ask ourselves why. Is it for fun or self promotion. Seeing as how they have so much money spent on props in the form of clothes that aid and assist these fake actions, we must therefore conclude that they are not doing it ofr fun but self preservation and or forward slash promotion.
So what we have now are 2 men that falsely act the goat and use props and pre scripted actions to promote the brand they represent. This in itself buys into a very strong game playing scenario and we all know how much some people hate game players dont we. Its one thing to have fun, piss people off, act like a tosser and basically be a dick for effect, but to drive people nuts with inane baby talk and american accents for effect is one bridge too far.
''Are you all right Edward, yes I am John, shall we dance in the mirror and sing some really cool songs, yes Edward that will be cool, can we also piss nicola off when we are doing it, thats a swell idea bro, lets do it.. and so the deadwood act goes on. Basically they are man children with enormous egos and the worst comic act going.

It's a social experiment...the forum is there for us to discuss housemates and judge them and comment on their behaviour and reactions. Some on this forum do it better than others and I love reading posts like that. It's part of it...we are all entitled to take as seriously and light hearted as we like. I have not read any character assassinations of their mum.The fact that she is their mum is academic. She is their manager, she pays herself a big wage and for the last 2 years their brand Planet Jedward has shown losses in excess of 250,000 while she still gets paid. Go figure that one. Secondly these poor kids have been pushed and guided for many years to provide wages for all around them and \i call this exploitation when it interferes with the way they have been made to grow up. Not in terms of the obsessive vitriol towards the housemates for once - although inevitably there's still been plenty of that - but in terms of people bandying about terms like 'real men' and 'normal 25 year old men' that they are seemingly unable to qualify.
Four weeks have passed and I am still yet to learn of what exactly constitutes a 'real' man (and indeed why that would be so), or what behaviour men at the age of 25 are and are not allowed to engage in, and also what exactly 'normal' entails. It shall forever remain a mystery

Yeah the 'real man' comments and such have been a little silly, given noone seems to know, or is willing to say what a 'real man' is.
I do think Jedward are odd though, I have to say that. Less odd than they used to be though, at least now they are no longer like bloody cartoon characters always happy and 'pranking'. Everyone who knows me on here knows I could not stand Jedward at all. but they have won me over by being more..human this time around. They have got angry, got bitchy and showed a range of emotions. They are no longer like a couple of robots on speed. Yes they are 'quirk'y and some things they do seem to be for the cameras only, but they are on bloody BB of course they will try to entertain. Because of this, I swallowed my pride and admitted I like them  I really hope they do win tonight. I suspect they won't but I would love them to.

I don't like them because I find them sneaky, fake, highly irritating and they love to play the victim, some of the things I hate most in a housemate, the past 2 or 3 days Edward has grown on me, but his brother is like an anchor that drags him down all the time.

If they were allowed to grow into adults, they wouldnt feel it necessary to baby speak or dance in the mirror and play dressy uppie.
you know more about them than most of their fans on here

It's been very strange reading some of the vitriol spewed about them for me. I couldn't give a monkeys about some yardstick by which we should all apparently measure maturity. I'm more likely to make judgements based on immorality than immaturity, particularly given that there have been a number of occasions when hms other than Jedward have acted in an immature manner loaded with malice too. Re the childlike act they have...Bear used it throughout..often in an incredibly goading way. But he split votes as folk found it entertaining and he won. Last season it may have been but the childlike act was applauded by some. Everyone is entitled to like the way a hm conducts himself but there seems to be no consistency in the hate for an act. Who cares if it's how they live their lives. They're not hurting anyone. There are many celebrities who keep a profile and make a living by being vile like Hopkins. In the great scheme of things I just think the level of hate for them is ridiculous in a world full of real nasty bas*****.

Yes, i find it funny that people can say bear or marc wer outstanding hm and praise their actions then come out a year later and throw all sorts of insults to jedward who are doing much the same..just not as nasty.
