Had the demo downloaded for ages, got around to playing it yesterday, ended up playing through it twice in a row and now can't wait for the release :omgno:. It's gorgeous, and the game play is seamless. Just... All so well put together, in a way that's too uncommon for games these days.

I enjoyed the demo, it seems to be a return to form for Platinum who have been floundering quite a bit as of late.

i love this game so much ergh literally the only fault i have found (and i'm like 20 hours in) is that some of the side quests have to be completed before progressing with the main story and i had no idea so i failed like 8 quests and forfeit the xp/rewards :nono:

but yeah it's probably my game of the year so far

the machines (enemies) are absolutely adorable, the story is engaging and the sountrack is flawless :flutter:

buy ha now

Bayonetta 2??I've heard it's good but sadly no one will ever know, because no one actually owns a Wii U. It's a myth. They don't even exist in real life.

Bayonetta 2??

2013.

After that they had a remarkable run of turds with Legend of Korra, Star Fox, TMNT..... Nier was probably their only good title SINCE Bayonetta 2.

Nier was probably their only good title SINCE Bayonetta 2.To be fair to them; Scalebound was announced in 2013 and a lot of their effort was spent working on that as an Xbone exclusive, until it was unceremoniously cancelled in late 2016.

Of course! It seemed in the spirit of the game

Of course! It seemed in the spirit of the gameI thought it was one of the most ingenious moments I've yet encountered. I honestly think that end credit sequence will stick with me forever. I was in a bit of a dark place when I started playing through Automata, and I swear that game was a not-insignificant part of pulling out of a nosedive. Which sounds sort of ridiculous but there it is :joker:. I honestly can't see it ever being topped as my #1.

OH ALSO did you do the optional "Emil's memories" quests / superboss? I ****ing teared up, the Emil subplot is tragic :bawling:. Its so bleak but his message is so full of hope.

Not done that yet, TS :pIt's a pain in the arse to unlock the superboss (and thus the end of his story) because the mission is only available after you get and fully upgrade every weapon in the game... And there's one that's a ****ing RNG nightmare. Ironically enough, it's one that can only be bought from Emil, and only in a certain place on the map, AND he only has it sometimes (seemingly random), so you basically just have to keep reloading your save and retrying if he doesn't have it :bawling:. You also have to farm a lot of materials for the upgrades but I actually found that quite fun.

This is definitely one of my favourite video games :D Played through it last year and although it's not my favourite video game ever, it definitely is my favourite video game story ever.

Can't wait for Astral Chain, Bayonetta 3, and whatever else is next from Platinum

It's about existentialism, it's about embracing yet challenging nihilism at the same time, it's about the balance between individualism and collectivism and how the two can coexist similtaneously, and ending E is (in large part) about hope, finding hope and optimism in the desolate, and the synergy and companionship that can be found in something like gaming even when the game itself is a solitary experience.

I could honestly write a dissertation on it I think. I truly think it's something special, not just for gaming, but in any artistic or philosophical medium.

I like to think the reason why you had to have multiple playthroughs was the idea that, no, actually, this outcome isn't acceptable, and you keep playing til you get it right, kind of like how an AI would run out scenarios until it found the perfect one.

Well it's sort of a parallel of what's been happening to 9S and 2B, they've been constantly repeating the same scenario for countless generations, but during the course of the game things change that means the cycle is eventually broken.
